If she wasn't so fantastic with my mom, she'd been out on the curb...  As it is, it's now our running joke when she wants to get under my skin.  I took her for a ride in it the other day and had her scared to death... That'll teach her... :)

She may now call it the Diabl-Oh-Two.

I just call them by their colors.

The blue car, or the polaris car, or the orange car. Most people don't know what a 2002 is, so when they see mine, they ask some annoying question that I've answered a million times.

Also, answering the same questions over and over make me feel like I sound pretentious.

So they have names (Miley, Molly, Mila, etc.) but I also identify them by their exterior color.

some cars

some motorcycles

some airplanes

some surfboards

I say Vern to those in the know. 1973 BMW two thousand two Tii named Vern to everyone else. Sometimes they need a picture too.

Two-thousand-two. And a car -- not that you asked -- is a bimmer, not a beemer (BMW bikes were beemers). You can all flame me but I've been a BMW owner for 42 years and I'm not about to "update my jargon"!

Do I come across as grumpy today? Good.

Regards,

Steve

:-)

Winner!

At track events filled with newer bmw's, I just call it the red museum piece.

The "Tii" or "the old BMW" is how mine is referenced

The "M3" or "Silver BMW" is the other one

When I'm talking about it to my wife, it's "Schatzi".

When I'm talking about it to other 2002 owners, it's "my oh-two".

When my wife is talking about it, she calls it "fugly".

You can't even call it a "114" anymore without confusion.

Bmw-1.14D-yanjpg.jpg

No confusion for me: in 42 years of ownership, I've never referred to an '02 as a 114!

Steve
