Old-school steering wheel cover

I have an NK steering wheel in my car...and it gets damn slippery. I am looking for an old style steering wheel cover for it, that used to be everywhere back in the day...now, I cannot find anything.   Below is a picture of one on a VW:

Cheapo steering wheel cover....but totally retro. Have these vanished from the face of the earth?

You're not the only one, arminyack, with a "search-string deficit"! Twice in the last couple months I've seen these once-$3.99 covers mistaken for original BMW steering wheel padding. And the second time, fearing an epidemic of ridiculous thoughts, I tried to find one online. I, too, failed! Now I'm ready!

Steve

Funny - they used to be a dime a dozen at shops like Pep Boys. Frowned upon back then, but I've still got mine on the 2002.

That's EXACTLY where you would find them! Which is why I was stunned to hear people speaking of their ancient and torn examples as being original to their steering wheels!

There's been one on Gerta since 1986, I was going to take it off, but now I love it.

My car has one like the one in the VW pic.  My car is euro...I bought it in '87 and it had the cover on it.  Maybe it was purchased in Germany or France, where my car lived.

Same thing, I initially wanted to take it off, but now I can't imagine doing that.

Well, Scott, this proves one thing:

There's a Pep Boys everywhere!

Best,

Steve

Oh, yeah, the '73 tii, 2762757, came to me with one.  It smelled like "mechanics hands," so out it went!
