headliner card board

it prevents your headliner from "ballooning" or filling with air and puffing up while driving...that said, and many will say no you can't do without it but i didn't replace the one in my 76 in o5 when i restored it and the headliner hasn't pop'd yet...i just glued the headline to the rear window lip, like you do in front and called it good

that piece is impossible to find unless you find someone with one that they will sell

Trying to figure out some other parts, I ran across the headliner portion of the Orange BMW Auxiliary Catalog (Band 2) in section 51/72

At the rear of the headliner for the sedans, there is Item # 6  BMW # 51 44 1 826 395  "Blind"

and # 9  item # 51 44 1 803 197 for Tourings

Could this be the elusive cardboard part that is what is pictured above?

Of course, the newest on-line diagrams do not show this part
