The shifter on my '70 is getting unbearably sloppy.  I knew CD did an article on early shifters a while back and sure enough Search finds it in the Articles section under engine and drivetrain - But Its Not There!  can somebody help me with a functional link?

You have the early style shift linkage--fork and blade--unless someone has changed it to the later style; repairs are pretty straightforward.  IIRC, someone has made available bronze bushings & washers to replace the plastic ones in the fork/blade, where most of the wear takes place.

If you go to realoem.com and look at the exploded diagram for the shift linkage, it'll be clear on what you'll need to do.  And Blunt has a kit of all the wear parts that need to be replaced.  Just make sure you order the correct kit.

cheers and happy tinkering
