Looks to be Nevada, a desirable color, but BMW Archives can confirm the factory color and manufacturing date if you send them the VIN and ask nicely for all archival data on the car (info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com). CA blue plates = good! (When did black-plate issuances stop? I thought it might be 1970?)

"All original" is a relative term. None of the seat covers, for instance, is original: they are wrong in color, texture, and number of pleats, and lacking headrests. The door cards, however, appear to be original and Tobacco in color, the interior color most generally found with Nevada exteriors. The original seats matched the color of the door cards. The door cards, however, have been cut for speakers, and the chrome-plated plastic trim pieces are (typically) peeling. Rims (wheels) are 14" "bottle caps" from a later e30 car. Original rims were 4 1/2" x 13" steel, with full wheelcovers.

The big issue for '02's, and most old cars, however, is rust. The photos, especially with a fresh paint job, don't really show anything. Someone who knows '02's needs to climb all over this and probe for rust!

It is definitely a good-looking car, not all mucked up by later additions and changes!

Good luck,

Steve

This car has been for sale a loooong time, 8-9 months or so.  Looks as if the owner is trying to get what he put into it.  To me Nevada (I'm past the Inka/Golf infatuation) is worth a premium but not this much.
