Any interest on the FAQ?

I need to get rid of my fathers 1973 2002. It has been sitting under his deck for the past dozen years or so. I have taken a few parts off it but a lot of it is still there. Engine, trans, diff are all intact, all of the glass is there & decent. Interior is musty but intact. The reason I am posting here is that I don't particularly want to sell it. He was looking at paying a local junk yard to come take it away. I told him I might be able to find someone willing to come & take it. He said fine, no charge, just come & remove the entire car. So I am looking to see if anyone on the FAQ is interested. As stated before, it has sat for a long time and is beyond restoration. There are many parts that are useful to the right person. The car is located in Watkins Glen, NY. We would probably have to wait a few weeks until the ground around his house dries out to be able to pull it up the small hill next to his house. You would need a winch to get it up this hill. Attached are several photos of the car & the area it will need to be removed from. I am not really interested in the parts as I try to keep my 1600 as close to a 1600 as possible. Please let me know what you think. I am thinking it would be on a first come first serve basis, but knowing how far away we are from civilization here in upstate NY, that may be a problem. I am not interested in parting any of it out. If there is no interest for the whole car, I will have it removed to a junk yard. I was just hoping that someone here may have some uses for it.

Wowser, she's rusty, but LOTS of good trim parts on it.  The grills are in great shape and the interior ain't too shabby.  Definitely don't take it to the crusher...

Someone will certainly take her.  Thanks for posting it.

I just couldn't let it go to the crusher!  That car has been in our family since 1979!  Its the car I learned to drive standard on and the thought of it being crushed was just a little too much for me.  I figure someone on the FAQ would have some use for some of it and I feel much better about it if the car can be of use to someone restoring or fixing other ones.  I will post with more information as we go along.  Thanks to all for the interest!

Yeah,  there was not much I could do with it.  He parked it because of the rust and I was in the middle of the 2nd restoration on the 1600 as well as just starting the resto on my mustang.  The car originally belonged to my brother who had moved to DC and left it for my dad.  Too many irons in the fire for me at the time.  Tried to get a few people around the area that I knew to take it but no one was interested.

OK, It's update time. mfguilbault was unable to make it to the Watkins Glen area to pick up the 2002. (though not for a lack of trying!) So it is still available to anyone who would like to make a trip with a trailer and winch to pick it up. Just a refresher: Heavy rust, not a candidate for restoration, Many good trim/grill parts. Interior OK, Glass good, motor/trans/diff were all strong when parked 12 years ago. Also have various parts to go with it such as extra head with 1 bbl carb manifold, steering wheel, at least 6 hubcaps. Again, I think there are many parts here for the right person, first come, first serve, I don't want it to go to the junkyard! I am also not interested in parting it out. All parts go with the car! The vintage race at the Glen is this weekend and if anyone is in town and interested in taking a look at it, please let me know. Thanks!
