Charcoal Basketweaves - Yes? No?

I just got a set of E30 basketweaves that need refinishing.  I was contemplating the regular Silver finish, but I really like the Charcoal color that come in new Lexus sport models (first example I could think of).

I REALLY suck at combining colors, most of my clothing consists of jeans and basic shirts.  So I don't FU the car, let me know opinions on Charcoal wheels would look good on my Arctic Blue car.  I know that I should do what I like, I just don't know if the combo looks good.

I photoshopped one of the wheels to compare.

Thanks.

The only drawback to charcoal wheels on an '02 is that cars of that vintage generally had silver wheels--but it's your car so do what pleases you.  I admit to a prejudice against black wheels--they blend in with the tires and make 'em look larger than they are.  Charcoal is kinda halfway between silver and black...

I have black weaves with a polished lip on my 2002. I like them. Brake dust barely shows. :)

The polished lip helps to keep the wheel from blending into the tire. In my opinion, this is key to making the darker wheels work on any car.

If you like charcoal, you should go for it. It's still a tasteful choice. If you were asking about the bright pastels I've seen Honda wheels painted recently, I'd probably make a different suggestion.

Ha! Overlapping posts. Like-minded people.

I opted for black and polish because I like it AND it's a little different as well. Charcoal was another choice, but I wanted to keep the car: inka, chrome and black ONLY.

I painted the spokes and hub on my Rota RB wheels semi-gloss black but kept the lip silver. I agree with the others that you should keep the lip silver.  Dark colored rims look much better on a light colored car. If your 02 is dark color, recommend you keep your basketweaves in the original color.

Thanks all for the replies. I really like the ones Bento found on the ECS site. Now I just need to find who can polish the lips. I guess Nogaro with a polished lip it is

Cheers.

I like them too. Might have to upgrade from my 14s to those when my tires are due for replacement.
