history and reference Anyone out there have a '72 2002 with VIN 2584652 ?

I tried Googling it, but no luck.

 

If your 1972 2002 has VIN 2584652, then I have your original Bill of Sale from Hoffman Motors.

Dealer was Imported Cars of Worcester, 308 Belmont St, Worcester MA.

Build date for this '02 would have been on (or right after) July 26, 1972.

 

How do I know this?

Because my '72 2002 (VIN 2584644) just 8 cars earlier, had a build date of July 26, 1972.

Both of these VINs show up on the BMW VIN decoder as 318i 4-door Europa, as does the VIN for my car.  Does anyone know why this is?

You need to select "Vintage" or "archive" instead of the default.

It was the "BIll of Sale/Delivery Doc" that was on Ebay, not the car.

Hi 02Les,

 

... and I was the purchaser of said document on eBay! What a riot, huh?!

 

I scanned it and used fotoslop to modify the scanned image to make my own "Bill of Sale" for my car, which was only 8 VINs from the VIN on the BoS; I modified the VIN and also had to change the dealer name. I printed it out on card stock, and it looks like the real deal. Except when you look on the back, you can tell it's not the original document. I display it on my car at shows.

 

I'd like to return the original BoS to its rightful owner...
