black early grill slat covers

From '68 through sometime in the '70 model year, the slats on '02s were painted black, not covered with the black anodized covers. You could always try that. I believe that method was abandoned, however, because flying debris eventually left the paint pockmarked.

Steve is correct about the early cars (68-69 and possibly at least some 70s).  The black paint on my '69 started chipping when the car was about six months old, and was a constant maintenance problem.  I finally used some black trim tape (a 3M product that's different from electrical tape), which worked fine for nearly 20 years.  When I repainted the car, I stripped the tape off and painted the grilles again, but this time used a SEM primer that was meant for painting over stainless steel and anodized aluminum.  I then used SEM satin black trim paint, and that is holding up very well.

Tape.  Or measure how long your missing one is, and maybe one of us will think of you

when we come across a ranched grille.

Or scuff it and plasti- dip.  that shit is all the rage with the kids right now...

and it would probably hold up to Mike's rock chips pretty well....

black truck bedliner material?

Hi there

I used black body trim tape. It is much much less expensive than the original pieces, withstands weather, and is very sticky.

Ps. Note the 2 black, 1 silver, 2 black, 1 silver, 3 black pattern.
