Viola!  Or Voila! Instant Jewel Tip!

Best,

That is an awesome idea! I know there was a guy on the forum a few years back that was remanufacturing them but he has since gone MIA. I ordered a bag of 100 of these things off Amazon and will give it a shot too. Under $10 what's the harm in trying.

How about a 2002 BRA? Is that rare?

I don't know if they are still available new, but I have a pair.

Rare find? You tell me...

Antenna jewel tips!

Rare, no more.

The other day I was with my wife at AC Moore, the craft store, and I saw a bag of 100 of these red plastic ornaments for ceramic Christmas trees. So I thinks to myself, "Hmmm.  For sh*ts and giggles, I wonder if..."

With my wife's 40% discount coupon, it was just a few bucks. They also had a bag of different colored ones. I chose the red ones.

I trimmed off the end (the 'body' is 5/8" long), measured my antenna (3mm diam.), drilled a 3mm hole into the plastic ornament, pulled off the old black plastic antenna tip and stuck the new one onto my antenna.

Viola!  Or Voila! Instant Jewel Tip!

The beauty is, depending on how crazy (or anal) you want to be, you can paint the tip to match your car, or you could even chuck it into a lathe and be really creative. With 100 of them in a bag, and a price-per-piece of next to nothing, your choices are endless! You could color code them for different days of the week. Let your kids decorate their own ones. Put glitter on 'em. What the hey, right?

Like I said, rare no more.

I know, I know; an idle mind is the Devil's workshop.

Best,

-Bob

I just ordered a bag as well - thank you for the post

So... I took delivery of a car on Saturday with some interesting bits on it.  Some rare, some not-so-rare, some in great shape, some not-so-great. I reached out to some of the Alpina experts prior to purchase, consensus is that someone got hold of the Hardy & Beck catalog at one point and checked off a number of aftermarket items...  Who really knows?

Enjoy:

Weber 45DCOE 15&16 carbs with Alpina-style airbox ( Vintage Autobahn has supplied me with the proper boots...thanks, Connor!) and proper NK filters on the way, too.

The velocity stacks? not just 90 degree to the carbs, but angled and rotate to match the runners of the airbox... pretty cool. Yes, Tii brake booster.

Alpina 4 gauge box on dash, backlit and warning lights all seem to be working.  Temp has switch between oil temp and coolant temp...kinda cool.  Clock looks to be from Porsche, though

Inverted Bilstein shocks (sure wish I could have those struts KB sold a while back :( )

Locking gas cap with key, previously mentioned on this thread. (nice reflection, idiot...)

Spare mounted on a 13x6 Borrani

BMW mudlpaps... seen much better days.

Not terribly rare, but a nice addition; Scheel driver's seat... recovered.

The Momo prototipo is too wasted to warrant a close up shot.  The car has been molested, but it starts, runs and drives. I'm still figuring out what it's going to take to bring it back to glory.

Those are the 250mm drums, too.  Rear shoes are wasted, but fortunately, the adjusters are un-marred.

Front bumper had 4 lights on it at one time, which coincides with the green foglight button on the console.

One saving grace is that the car came out of the desert SW, so the only rust I've found is in the spare tire well.

250mm drums are E21 size, right? You can always get the shoes relined.

Post a pic of the rare fusebox on that car.
