Just sharing some photos of my 1602 project

I just wanted to share some quick shots of my project. I've been working on this car off and on for about 4 years. This January I finally got serious and began prepping it for paint. The car was originally Chamonix. When I acquired it in 2009 it was painted Baikal. Then in 2012 I got in a fender bender and smashed the nose panel and right fender. Thats when I decided to go with some pig cheeks. I replaced the nose with a OEM nose panel from my local dealer, and the pieced the flares from Mana Motorsports and Ireland Engineering.

My intention was to create a period correct looking street/race car. I always liked the look of the old racers with riveted rear flares, so I copied that look for my project. Plus it was less work! Haha. But really, I dig the look. I did all the body work myself, and with the help of a friend I painted the car Bristol. To give it an Alpina look I used plastidip to paint the topside of the car. Still have to cut and polish it.

In addition to all the bodywork I installed IE front sway bars (already had the rears), IE front coilover, IE stage 2 springs with Billie sports, IE strut tower bar, Racetep rear brace, IE front brake kit, and IE rear 250mm drum kit. I also rebuilt the shifter, and replaced the guibo, CSB, door and window seals with parts sourced from Blunt.

Of course, there's always more on the to do. Currently my list includes: upgrading to an 318i 80 amp alternator, electric fan, WN radiator, and new door cards.

The FAQ has been truly been the most important tool in my tool box for the past 6 years. I had to show my support with the FAQ grille badge. If you don't have one I suggest you grab one. It helps support the site, and looks f'in' cool!

Well, enough talk, enjoy the pics!

I really like the stance of the car. Looks great.

Thanks. I haven't gotten around adjusting the front yet. Right now it's at maximum ride height. I've got an airdam to install still.

Very cool, thanks for sharing! are you running -3 degrees camber in the front or is that a bit of an illusion created by the cheeks?

Yea about -3 degrees. Fixed camber plates and shortened and bent strut housings with offset roll-center spacers.

Hey Joel!

Thanks man. I'm really happy with the way it turned out. I hope you got that dream car though I would've loved to see you porker finished. [emoji3]

I'm still on the fence about the airdam too. Looks a bit more old school without, but it don't look bad with. Haha

BTW. Do you still have that Alpina gauge box?

Thanks! I miss that version of the car, but I do like this incarnation better. I think when I get some decent tires I will paint them like those old Futura tires I had.

Love the color change, as much as I like the Chamonix, I respect a decision to go against original.

I'm still making my decision on whether to change from Siennabraun, siennabraun with pig cheeks sounds interesting...

I like the deep fogs too incase someone wants to park too close to the nose  ;)

sienne braun with cheeks, I bet that would be the only one in the world, which is the only plus I can think of! Sorry, not a brown fan.
