Fall 02berfest - Fredericksburg TX

Recommended Posts

Thought I would share a few pics from this past weekends Fall 2016 02berfest in Fredericksburg TX.  A big thanks to Terry and Debbie for putting it all together!  Lots of storms across Texas with heavy rain and flash flooding kept the number of 02's down but I can tell you that those of us that attended had a really good time.  Can't wait until the Spring 2016 02berfest!

Great pictures, Greg!  Yeah, Skip, we had a lot of rain Friday night, which made for some flooded roads; we turned around at one flooded crossing, but that was no big deal.  Many, many thanks to Terry and Deb for organizing this event and plotting out a fantastic set of Texas Hill Country backroads... that section of CR1341 between Comfort and Fredericksburg was choice. :)

Here's a few more pics.

Flooded crossing wasn't terribly deep, but it was swift enough to take a tiny 02 downstream (note the Motorsport beanie...)

Beautiful 2800Cs with my wannabe '75.  Tim A. brought his 1 Series from Schreveport... always good for color commentary :)

I think the weather deterred a few of the Austin 02ers, hopefully, they can get out for Terry's Spring drive.

Looks like a great event. I didn't realize the river crossing was regular part of the route. Better be sure you have solid floors!

That E30 M3 touring is really cool. Great use of a wrecked M3 and a grey market touring.

After 10 years of drought conditions, central Texas is finally receiving big rains.  El Nino has provided for some significant rain events and localized flooding has been a frequent event in the last several weeks.

The M3 Touring is one of Terry's creations.  If I remember it was originally brought in by a European diplomat and is currently running a S54 powertrain at the moment?  It's....quick :)

Friendly reminder to those who attended...  I just washed the '75 and there was a significant amount of granite gravel and muck in the lower, rear portion of the front wheel well.  You know... right where these cars rot out?  Yeah, that's the spot... I'd get that cleaned out, if'n I was y'all...

My family had a great time! My 8 year-old daughter Grace got to ride in the front seat for around 100 miles. She was in heaven, then fell asleep, probably because the car is just so quiet and rides like being on a cloud. Grace appreciated the new sway bars even if my wife, Georgianne, did not. This will not be our last 02berfest.

I miss the TX get-to-gethers.

Maybe next year we'll trek from TN to TX, if, the Touring refurb is finished. Just started the stripdown.

Amazing that BMW cannot supply a rear hatch shock that lasts more than a couple of years. The original pair lasted 25 years; I'm on the 2nd replacement set now, and, obviously, need a 3rd.
