1975 BMW 2002 tii – For Sale - NEW PRICE - $19,000 OR BEST OFFER!

Very rare 1975 tii – legally imported, with sunroof AND … Behr fitted Air Conditioning (not hooked up) – with the factory 5 speed!

Replacement engine turning 175 hp, tight suspension into factory 5 speed with a dog-leg 1st gear and 2 through 5 in the “H” pattern; in this configuration it’s a blast to drive the twisties or just as easy to tool around town.

I bought the car a year and a half ago and have loved every day with it.  It’s not a perfect car, but it is a perfect driver with no rust!  My intent was to use it for a while, then put it into a better restoration this winter than the previous owner started.  However, my left knee has gotten worse and I am no longer able to use the clutch at lights or stop signs and each shift comes with two stabbing pains on each gear shift.

I tracked down the original, (numbers matching) engine and all the Fuelie parts and goodies that came with it, all parts stored in sealed plastic storage bins and needs rebuilding.  There are other misc parts and including a set of 15 inch rims and tires.

It’s not a perfect car – but it starts every day, drives extraordinarily well and gets honks, waves and thumbs up from nearly every auto enthusiast.  It could use a new/rebuilt driver’s seat (they are mismatched Recaro’s) and the interior is a little tired.  (I’ll share all the contacts for acquiring a new interior at the right price.)

If you’re looking for a good condition 2002tii to either run around in, or restore, this is thee car to have, especially with the original, numbers matching, engine and tranny!  You won’t find too many tii’s with Sunroof AND Behr A/C AND the German 5 speed.   By completing the restoration, you’ll have what I wanted, one of the rarest and sought after tii’s in North America.

$19,000 or best offer.

EDIT: Corrected the error in the term "Factory A/C" .... thank you Steve.

No Rust!

Clean and Clear title.

Original dash clock (not running).

No signs of accident damage – I’ve only had the car a year and a half and the previous owner had restored the exterior and replaced at least one of the rear wheel wells and removed all rust.

Additional or specific pictures on request.

Gregory,

One minor detail: the factory did not install A/C in '02s. Even Behr A/C, designed and manufactured by the firm that manufactured the '02's radiators, heaters, heater valves, etc -- as is installed in this car -- was installed by a BMW dealer, an independent shop, or even an owner. There was no factory A/C for an '02.

Good luck with your sale,

Steve

WOW ... thank you Steve.

I'll make the appropriate corrections immediately.  I guess I've been misinformed and greatly appreciate your attention to these details that I find important to keeping the facts straight on these wonderful and unique cars.  More importantly ... thank you for your presentation - it is refreshing to get informative posts that help than snarky, abrasive or insulting posts.

I've read some of your other posts and I appreciate your contributions.

Regards,

Gregory

Thanks, Gregory,

And I recognize it may seem like splitting hairs, i.e., Does it really matter whether the factory or the dealer actually installed the A/C? For most purposes, absolutely not! But I'd like the next generation of '02 owners to realize how buying an '02 was simultaneously different from and similar to buying a new car today. The inherent weakness of all '02 A/C comes partly from the fact that the car was not designed with A/C even vaguely in mind -- Behr A/C, for example was introduced ca. 1971 or 1972 -- and the A/C's design had to accommodate installation in an already-assembled car.

Best regards,

Steve
