what are the symptoms with it?

My experience has been so far that not many transmission shop would work on them. At least that was the case for me in here in central Ohio could not find one. So decided I am gonna go for it myself.

Not that difficult job either.

Just BMW in Cincinnati is a good shop--John's been working on 2002s since they were new, and Cincy isn't that far from Lexington...

Motorsports of Lexington on West High St.

Link to home page is above. I am from upstate NY and my daughter attends UK. When she took our E39 to Lexington I did my homework to find a good Indie that would help her out if she needed it. Visited the shop, talked to the owners. VERY good place. Check out the reviews on bimmershops.com. They have helped my daughter out a few times and I feel very comfortable with her having that car so far from home with that shop there. Not sure of their experience with 02's, but I am assuming they could work on it. If you are in Lexington it shouldn't be to hard to check it out. Good Luck!

Buckeye,  Good luck with the transmission rebuild!  In my many trips to Lexington, I have yet to see an 02 there!  Good luck to your son on his finals and in his next semester.
