history and reference $1,000 ti?

If I had to guess -- I laid out my thoughts in Post #7 of the following:

we may have missed a $1,000 ti. Rusty? Perhaps. Buy, hey, for a $1,000, certainly worth a restoration attempt.

My chief concern would be that someone bought this to part it out. But I suppose a full-price purchase suggests the buyer knew what he/she was buying. Very cool. A few here may have seen the Craig's List ad -- it was gone by the time I found the thread -- and may know more!

EDIT: Catlin Customs saw the original ad -- it is likely a "ti tribute" car. I thus assume it was also color changed, as Colorado was a ti-only color in 1969.

I don't see anything in the photo that doesn't say "ti" to me, other than the grill.  It sure looks like a twin of my 71.  Hopefully the buyer will post the VIN in response to my question, or at least a shot of the engine bay.  If it is, I really hope he reconsiders parting it out.  It doesn't look any worse than that basket case ti that sold on ebay last year for around $9-10k (I think, I can't remember the exact selling price).

I'm not expecting we'll get the VIN. But I believe this sort of evidence is fairly conclusive, as owners rarely remove original airbox brackets to "de-ti" a ti!

And jmr, do you recall any interior shots -- a ti, like any good Euro '69 -- has chrome trim across the lower portion of the dashboard?

But I think the fire drill is over!

As the first person to see this car (before it was listed for sale), I can confirm it's not a real ti, merely someone's tribute. The vin and other ti specific parts are not present. The car is a US model as well. The seller thought it was a ti (but admitted to not knowing what that meant), so I informed him otherwise.

 

Even at $500 I passed on it. With the terminal rust and very few salvageable parts, it was a mediocre parts car candidate at best. The gotti wheels, bumpers, and weathered dual webers would get your money back, but beyond that it would be tough to make a profit.

 

Nice yard art though, especially in colorado with the ti badging

And I wouldn't blame anyone for snagging it for $1000 either. Personally I try to stay away from parting cars, so it wasn't a good fit for me, as there was no saving that little guy. A good buy for someone nonetheless!

Doesn't this look like air filters for dual sidedrafts...? Maybe 69s had bolted-on airboxes that did not require the big braboo?? Did not exclusively tis have these alloy strut enhancers? And is that really no ti steering wheel...?

 

By the way: as far as I can judge, this is very probably a 69 or older. The upper parts of the inner fenders have longwise lines. I've seen 69s with longwise and also with crosswise lines. Hoping the outparter saves these sections.

Hey, Hen, yes it has dual sidedrafts, and it's a 1969. But it's a 1969 model year U.S.-spec car -- manufactured during the 1969 calendar year -- made to look like a real ti. The VIN is 1666595. Posts #14 and 15 of the following provide this data:
