'66 NK 1600 @ the track

Hi fellow NK-ers -

As some of you know, I take my 1600 on five+  road rallies a year.

And it gets a lot of weekend (and weekday) road time via the backroads,

main roads, and highways of California.

Well, a few months ago, I took it to the track to do some laps, see what

it felt like in this car, and to have some fun. I did around 38 laps that day,

and had fun pushing the car to some extent……but I wasn't wanting

to hammer it too much or end up off of the track. Plus, I had to drive

150 miles to get it home.

This short video depicts one lap, and scenery, through an accumulation of footage

grabbed during the day. And, hopefully, it evokes the period spirit that we embrace

in relation to these machines.

Hang in, jim h.

Jim, thanks very much for sharing the video. The car is beautiful, the black alligator Dashboard, With black leather style Nardiesque steering wheel and seats are so wonderfully correct. They are joy to drive, and handle beautifully. I think you probably enjoy yours more than anybody I know with all the vintage California rides you do in it. Although I must say I envy Nick Vyse as well, as he gets to drive around in the south of France. I used to live in Santa Barbara California, and wish that I were still on the West Coast, as California offers many beautiful venues and activities. It is definitely a car culture.  Cheers, and thanks again. If you visit the Philadelphia area let me know, I will let you drive some interesting machinery.  Sincerely, Peter

Thanks for the words, guys.

A few things……

The track =    Thunderhill / 150 miles from San Francisco

The music =  I'm pretty sure it is Eastwood-centric

The steering wheel = The Nardiesque wheel…..is a Nardi (Ha, Peter)

Nick, thanks for posting it up on the UK Forum, I hadn't found the time to do so.

I hope some of you are gearing up to make the trek to Monterey this August.

It should be quite the BMW week this year…..with more than a few 4 door / NK cars

representing !

Good stuff Jim! Thill is one of my favorite tracks. It suits the NK to a T.
