Lol i will never understand why anybody would pay $10k for such a poor condition tii, I guess what everybody has is gold now because some people just have money to blow! But I am in Athens and I would love to check it out!

In Athens? I would EXPECT you to check it out! If I had a bit more time, and was a bit closer, I would check it out -- for the sake of the forum, of course.

Let us know what you find out!

Regards,

Steve

Re disc coooo lous.

Get a frickin frackin rusty ole kuglefischer on there and they think it's made of gold.

The other car is a 74 1602. Guess that would make it a gray market car? Doesn't really matter since it's missing...everything but, on the rare chance that someone needs a hood or something, it should be duly noted. And so it is.

I don't know, dups! It sounds like you need to try a bit more of the Kool-Aid....

Well guys, I shall be checking it out! Plus the "74' 1602" doesn't exist. What he has is a 74 2002. In Europe there existed the 1502 from 74-76 but no 1602, I believe this ended in 71 (maybe early 72?) Also, no 1502's were officially imported to the US, even unofficially, I doubt there were any.

Glancing again at the photos, currently Fjord with navy blue interior. There are flashes of a "Polaris-like" color visible but perhaps those are simply areas where the old clear coat has burned off, leaving Fjord base coat? Clardy A/C. Likely original steel rims (same 5 x 13 rims used by all square taillight cars except for the turbo). Actually appears to be quite stock -- apart from the missing airbox. But I suspect the rust is even worse than shown in the photos.

Steve

I'm not certain about those demise dates for the 1602. Not that it alone is definitive, but the Owner's handbook that came with my '76 (the handbook has a February 13, 1975 date) shows full specs for 1602 and 1802 sub-models, in addition to the 2002 sub-models. Yes, the handbooks were always a bit stale, but I'd find it hard to believe that a February 1975 version contained full specs and wiring diagrams if the 1602 was never even offered in a square taillight version. Mind you, as you say, the 1602 had not been offered in a U.S.-spec version since 1971 and the 1802 was never offered in a U.S.-spec version. I also believe that 1502 production continued into early 1977, which is why sources such as RealOEM often list parts as, e.g. '73 through '77.

(The Euro market tii was, of course, offered through '75, which is why this February '75 handbook also has specs for the 2002tii. The full Owner's handbook, English edition -- tan glossy covers through 1970-ish, orange glossy covers later -- was simply an English translation of the German-language edition. The specs are purely Euro market. This should not be confused with the small "U.S. supplement", which also bore the title of Owner's handbook, but which was much thinner and always had a white non-glossy cover, along with "US Version" printed on the front cover.)

Regards,

Steve

The USA 1600-2 ended in Mar '71, then 232 USA 1602s were made in Apr '71 and that was it.

For the rest of the World, LHD 1602s ended in Jun '75 and RHD 1602s ended in Oct '75.

Thank you very much, Les. It's so nice to have someone who actually knows commenting on matters I can only speculate on! Do you also happen to know the 1502 production dates?

Best regards,

Steve
