Description – Well restored numbers matching 1973 2002tii. I have owned the car for eight years. Prior to that the car was in dry storage in Ashland Oregon for 12 years - owned by a Southern California BMW parts and service retired business owner. After restoration the car has been driven less than 200 miles. Thanks to input from potential buyers, the price has been reduced to be more in line with current market conditions. There are also some modifications in the text below.

 

Restoration Specifics.

Note all parts were sourced as new BMW replacement parts from:

Mike O’Hara BMW Service (Portland, OR)

Aardvarc Racing

Bolt Depot and Bel-Metric – fasteners

Finish Line Coating Milwaukee, OR

Front Suspension

  • New control arms (wishbones) and ball joints

  • New center track rod and tie rods

  • New Bilstein heavy duty shocks with new spring perch upper/lower rubber

  • 1” cut (lowered) OEM springs

  • All rubber replaced with new rubber or Ireland Engineering urethane bushings

  • Struts removed cleaned and inspected and powder coated

  • New upper strut bearings

  • New wheel bearings

  • New 19mm sway bar from Jaymic Ltd. and sway bar links from Ireland Engineering

  • Rebuild brake calipers

  • New brake hydraulic hoses

  • Steering box has not been rebuilt and does not need rebuilding

    Engine/Electrical/Drivetrain

  • Engine was professionally rebuilt by previous owner. Mike O’Hara BMW service provided the following:

    • Set up the distributor and timing

    • Set up the fuel injection system (OEM K- Fish mechanical pump)

    • Spray pattern tested fuel injectors and replace two injectors

    • Replaced fuel injector lines

    • Valve adjust

    • Compression check

    • New fuel injector timing belt

    • New fuel injection cold start relay

    • Properly adjusted all fuel injection linkage

  • New starter

  • New coil

  • New alternator

  • New voltage regulator

  • Misc other new relays – blinker, high beams, emergency relay and wiper relay

  • New high wattage front light wire loom by Susquehanna Motor sport

  • New Hela W4 light with higher wattage bulbs

  • Battery moved to the trunk

  • Re-cored radiator

  • All new radiator and heater hoses with proper OEM German clamps

  • New stainless steel exhaust system from Ireland Engineering and new hangars

  • Ceramic coated exhaust header and down pipe by Finish Line Coating

  • Getrag 245 - 5 speed with rebalanced drive shaft and center bearing. Speedometer was rebuilt but does not read exactly.

  • Pedal box rebuilt with new hardware New brake master cylinder

  • New clutch master and clutch slave

  • Brake booster was removed inspected, tested and replaced

  • Tii intake hardware bits were cad plated or replaced

  • Tii intake air filter box removed and powder coated

  • Wiper arm assembly was removed, cleaned with new arm pivot assemblies installed

    Rear Suspension

  • Removed and replaced the entire rear suspension system and differential

  • All rubber replaced with new rubber or Ireland Engineering urethane bushings

  • New Bilstein heavy duty shocks

  • New brake drums

  • New 19mm brake cylinders

  • New brake pads

  • New hand brake cables

  • New hydraulic brake lines

  • OEM sway bar reused with new sway bar links

  • Half shafts were removed, cleaned and replaced with new hex bolt hardware

  • New stub axle wheel bearings and seals

  • New rear subframe mounts and splined bolts. Note original splined bolts were removed with carrier support cleaned of surface rust before placing new bolts

  • New tension “push” rods and hardware – these connect the subframe mounts to the monocoque just behind the rear wheels

    Body/Interior

  • Car was 100% stripped to bare metal and professionally repainted by Class and Kustom. Minimal body work was required

  • New front windshield, rubber seal and chrome expansion strip

  • New front door cards with new chrome strips

  • New front and rear seat belts and hardware

  • Seat rails were removed inspected cleaned and replaced

  • Seats are in perfect condition

  • New right/left door handles and hardware

  • New door seals

  • New ‘B’ pilar window hinges, chrome covers and rear side window seals

  • New chrome rain gutters

  • Re-chromed rear side window latches

  • Sound dampening installed though out

  • New aftermarket carpet from Esty

  • Original floor pan bituminous insulation removed with floor pans inspected. The car is 100% rust free.

  • New rear window seal

  • New trunk seal

  • OEM headliner installed on 4/25/16 by All City Convertibles in Kirkland, WA

  • New upper chrome trim set (9) pieces

  • New lower belt trim (6) pieces

  • New 3 piece front chrome grilles

  • New 3 piece front chrome bumper and hardware

  • New front chrome and rubber bumper over-riders and hardware

  • New rear chrome bumper left and right side pieces. The center piece is not new but in fine condition

  • New rear chrome and rubber bumper over-riders and hardware

  • Reconditioned 1973 only bumper bracket covers (NLA)

  • New front blinker light assemblies – chrome, seals and lens and rubber wiring and drain tubes

  • New front and rear side marker lights

  • New rear “roundie” lights – chrome, seals and lens

  • New rear Hela license plate lights

  • New period correct badging

    What has not been done to the car

  • Dash is cracked and has not been replaced

  • Lower rocker trim has not been installed

  • Clock does not work (what’s new – they can be repaired)

  • Trunk board "elephant skin" is old and could be replaced. There is a new custom cut and bound piece of black carpet in the trunk.

  • Under dash painted "cardboard" pieces are old and not replaced. New sets can be purchased if this is important to you.

  • I have a new OEM antenna, but no radio so it has not been installed.

  • Previous owner installed a right side mirror and there are two small holes in the fender. I did not reinstall the mirror since it is not the original configuration.

Hi Nathan, do you have a price listed? I wasn't able to find one reading you ad. It would be a good idea for you to post one if you haven't done so already. Don't keep us in suspense. We know it will be an expensive car; such things are commonplace with nicely restored tii's.
