As I brought my daughter to the garage to explain the accident I told her how sorry I was that I had crashed "her car" she then says, " it's ok daddy, just get me a shinny blue one."

As of today I have started dismantling the car and it will be parted out(for sale section soon)

some of its parts will be used in my on going 02touring project (shinny blue one, whatever that means)

RIP Beloved 02

The BMW 2002 US was manufactured on April 10th, 1968 and delivered on April 19th, 1968 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Granada, paint code 023. Deceased wearing Bristol/Granada on January 9th, 2016.

Wow, Daniel, that was really an early 2002!  I didn't realize that.  What was the VIN?

Very, very sorry for your loss -- sincerely,

Steve

what a pity.  if it had been a vintage alfa or porsche, there's no question that it would have been revived.  frame rails and noses can be replaced...

oh well.  easier said than done and the economics just don't add up, yet.

Nobody hurt! I finally had the strength to start taking it apart today (shoulder surgery, soccer injury) Reason why today I decided to make its farewell public!

Really sorry to see this one go to the Pick 'n Pull in the sky. I've always loved the style and execution on this car, really nicely done. I guess the bright side is that you will now have the opportunity to create another beauty.

Yeah. I had a few months to think about it. But car is a little buckled. Roof/firewall/quarter panel etc. and no good reliable decently priced bodyshop around anymore. And Also have one full touring bare chassis I'm building. And no space to have 2 non running cars. If I had Unlimited funds/space then it'll be another story.

Shame, always a beautiful car. May it's parts and soul live on in other BMW's around the world.

Roof/firewall

Yeah, that's getting into a real job to get that pulled back out.

Mine had a cage, so that contained the damage better.

Wasn't so good for the neck, tho...

Sorry.
