1974 Tii

Recommended Posts

1974 Tii  Forest Green(?), mostly original paint-horrible surface rust on hood, gross booger sealing on windshield, funky interior-THIS IS the "bad news"

The GOOD news is its been in Northern CA ALL its life, NEVER crashed. ZERO chassis rust or rot( I lived in NE, worked for Michel Potheau-I KNOW rust...

Factory A/C-complete, but inop  Factory S/R...original tii nose panel!!!

New motor-pistons, valves, shafts, yadda, yadda, yadda.  Tranny shifts PERFECT. TONS of new parts

Mechanically, this car is very nice, and majority been redone-tires funky though

I have an E9 comp-absolutely no time and money to do another car at the same time

its gotta go ASAP

Find another completely original, SR-AC car with zero rust, and original nose panel with 75-90% original paint-I challenge you....these are OVER 40 years old now...

best cash offer

I'm guessing that you and the car are in Northern, CA.  And I'm guessing you want people to contact you via the forum's PM system.  But I'll bet you'll get more potential buyers if you list your city, an email address, a phone number, and a few photos of this thing....

Get the manufacturing date and the original color from BMW Archives, via an email with the car's VIN to info.grouparchiv@bmwgroup.com, and it will give the car some history cred!

GLWS,

Steve

If you are in the bay area, and you want to come by and look/buy it-fine.  This is a CHEAP car in my world...it isn't worth my time with pictures and all the rest of that..,

If it doesn't sell, it'll get put in the semi and shipped back to New England where people back there will choke-since they probably have not seen a chassis this pristine since the early 1980s...

Yes ...surface rust..

PARKED.In a car Port in Menlo Park... for 17 years.... it didn't move...

The sun will bake off the paint of the hood from its (Sun's) daily arc on the hood, and COOK the windshield rubber pretty badly/severely after 17 years.   While its pretty dry here, it DOES rain some years...

As for "cred" from historical search-that's all a load of crap:  BMW cant tell me ANYTHING about my e9-other than its either the last 3.0, or, the first 3.2...if they built 114 cars or so, how come they don't know this, or, which of the 3 different noses made applies to a homologation special racing car

They also cant tell me squat about the 507-is it an original Rudge wheel car or not?

Puhleeez...enough with/from the "experts"(you know, ALL the guys who were born 20-30 years AFTER the cars were built)

Mostly a bunch of pin heads that only know what they've read-or even worse, they rely solely on unsubstantiated here-say....like in High School...er, junior high???

I'm going to take a wild guess:  none of you are professional automobile people over the age of 45/50?

Lots of luck with your sale, Son!

I've been an '02 owner for 43 years.  My first MB?  Oh, yeah, my '58 220S, 45 years ago.  My first Audi?  A '71 100LS, 42 years ago.

Fortunately for you, you're just plain smarter than the rest of the world, 'cause your charm ain't likely to be your ticket...

Wow, Machineshop. You must be a joy to be around.

You come onto a site that you have barely been on, to try and sell a car, with all kinds of attitude.

Be nice, play well with others and make a profitable sale. Life is too short, my friend....

Life is short, enjoy the ride!

Delia Wolfe lives and works in the area.  Please have her perform a thorough inspection, test drive, & report (at your expense), and if I purchase the car, I will reimburse you that expense.  New tires are a must before she arrives, as "funky tires" are not acceptable unless the car in question does not run.  Looking forward to seeing her report.

  • 4 weeks later...

I went and saw this car. Craig is very wordy, but the most part all true and legit. He is a machinist for big dollar cars. Just hard to know EXACTLY what has been gone through. Motor looked completely clean. 4 new shocks, Exhaust looked new. Gas tank looked new. No rust in shock towers spare wheel well.

It's rough cosmetically but drives tip top.

It's an Amazon Green Exterior, light tan interior. Got this back from the bmw archive.

Dear Mr Pinkerton,

Thank you for your email.

The BMW 2002 tii US VIN 2782379 was manufactured on July 16th, 1974  and delivered on August 12th, 1974 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Amazonasgrün, paint code 076.

We hope this information is helpful for you.

Yours sincerely,

Julia Oberndörfer
