Not sure what your motivation is for replacing the turn signal mechanism, but since they are NLA from BMW, I decided to disassemble, clean and reassemble mine.  You have to be careful when you pry the little metal tabs away to free the plastic, they are fragile.  I screwed this up and broke one, but after cleaning, I simply zip tied it together and it's been working perfectly for a few years.  These things are mechanical, so upon opening and inspecting it, there doesn't seem to much in there to fail.
