Pump cutaway here: looks like Gus runs oil to the head...

Did you get some ideas for your project car from that refurb?

A radiator shop is a good place to take a leak.

I have no idea what I'm doing but I know I'm really good at it.

If the hood doesn't want to stay up, there was a fix from this board that is easy and shouldn't cost anything.  The fix is: Swap the crossbar mounts.  These mounts are of a zinc diecast and this material has the creeps.  That is, under load (stress) the material will plastic deform over time (as opposed to elastic deformation) and the rod ends that are anchored in the mounts have made a depression.  (Plastic deformation is like when you stretch the waistband on your shorts and it won't come back.   Elastic deformation is when it snaps back smartly.)  The depression in the mount relaxed the torque on the rods and the hood won't stand tall.  I fixed mine and it snaps up just as if it was new.  Swap the mounts and it should be good for another 40 years.

Hint: Before removing the bolts that attaché the link arm to the fender, take not of their position or the paint on the fender might be dinged if they are not set right when it is reassembled.
