Emergency flasher connector w/ an added resistor

Check this out, the end of my emergency flasher connector.

This 130 Ohm resistor really looks out of place. The solder has even broke loose from one end. Does anyone have any idea why this was done?  I didn't write down the numbers.

You haven't got LED bulbs in the indicators? I am guessing someone is trying to make the 'wrong' flasher unit work since that will usually need a standard load of 4 or 6 bulbs of X size. The resistor may be an attempt to change the load that the flasher sees.

FWIW - Hazard Switches - I looked into this a while back to get a "correct" replacement for my Touring

part # 61 31 1 355 358 USA no resistor & Hazard script

part # 61 31 1 356 193 USA with resistor & Hazard script

part # 61 31 1 353 428 rest of the World (no resistor & no Hazard script)

I believe the resistor arrived for the '74-'76 USA models, but have no clue what it does.
