1976 BMW 2002 - $8500

Bought from a member here on 2002FAQ back in June.  The car is basically in the same condition as when I purchased it, except for some dents removed, added LED's to the tail lights and interior, and added new headlights with HID's installed.  Still have sealed headlights the car came with and quite a few extra parts.  Will also include a brand new BMW drivers side door mirror.  This car is a blast to drive and I have never received so many compliments in my life.

1976 BMW 2002, non sunroof, 4 spd.

 

Lifetime Houston TX car – have 1976 purchase docs.  No rot, very solid.  I built this car to be a fun driver and autocross car (purists can stop reading).  Lots of work over the past year to get it into a great running and balanced car:

Currently in satin epoxy primer (epoxy is waterproof, can stay in this state indefinitely).  Numbers are magnets and stripes are removable vinyl.

Interior – new carpet, front sport seats, reupholstered rear.  Suede racing wheel & billet shift knob. 

 

A/C which was converted to R134a by previous owner.  A/C is operational but needs to be charged (I may get around to doing this)

 

-        Powertrain – New water pump, thermostat, fan, battery, Volvo 240 radiator conversion.  Weber 32/36, recently rebuilt and properly jetted.  New electronic Tii style distributor.  Older long tube header, recent valve adjustment.  No leaks or knocks and runs strong.  Valve seals could use replacing at some point.

 

-        Transmission recently flushed and filled with MTL synthetic.  Works perfectly, good clutch.  Rear diff gear oil also recently changed.  No leaks, no diff clunk.

 

-        New clutch master cylinder, line & slave cylinder, brake master cylinder, brake calipers and wheel cylinders.  Stainless braided front lines.  Have new brake drums and shoes in the box that come with.

-        New Bilstein front inserts, poly bushings and strut bearings.  Bilstein rear shocks (older but good)

 

-        New Ireland Engineering stage 2 race springs.  

 

-         21mm front & 19mm rear sway bars (ST)

 

-        Dunlop Direzza Star Spec tires (street/autocross tires)

 

-        Comes with 2 custom made light bars – one is a towbar bumperette with foglight mounts and the other is a light bar (pictured)

 

I have run this car at several BMW CCA and SCCA autocross events and it always attracts lots of attention and is a blast to drive.  Overall this car needs nothing to be out having fun this weekend.  Selling to make room for a dedicated race build.
