Help me out here. Why shouldn't I buy this E28?

$1,200 AUD just seems too cheap. Not seen it yet and don't really need it but... nnnggh my wife will hate me!

Check out this BMW 528i.

Buy it NOW. I had one just the same;

M30 Water pumps seem to last about 100,000 miles. This was its second one. It finally gave up the ghost at 276,000. It hung around at home for another four-five years before I scrapped it. The day after the chassis taken away a friend gave me my present one. Happy days.

Yes!  this is my favorite "modern" BMW.  I almost bought a running and complete 535is for $500.  I kick myself for not buying it.

I have decided. I am going to Sydney for a wedding this weekend. If it's still available (and not a heap of junk, even with an auto box) then I will buy it.

I must be the odd man out as I always rather liked the auto box. In real daily driving its always faster than a manual even if the first gear is very long. Personally I would look to update it to a 5sp EH box with paddle shifter controls.

If you can check the tag on the diff. Lots of uk 528i had LSD so you would be looking for S346 on the tag.

Lots of autos here in Australia, even for quite sporting cars.

Old school 3 speed autos are a bit long legged for the average 4 cylinder but 6 cylinders and up are good for real world driving.

My new VW Golf is a 7 speed auto on a tiny, blown 1.4 litre petrol engine this falls outside of the above rule of thumb but pulls like a champ.
