Why would anyone want to swap in a 2002 M10 into a 1998 M3?

Yes, its automatic and interior is gray leather in good shape.

I know you still retain your m3/4/5, and I recently sold my own m3/4/5, but they just did't seem common when I owned mine. 

The price on this car is low. Low enough to warrant the assumption of a slush box tranny.

that is what i was going to guess as the reason...

 

my m3/4/5 is my winter project this year.  20 years old this november.  time for front to back replacement of all rubber stuff and many suspension bits.  then i can drive it for another 20 years!
