Heater Vent Install, Pics?

Recommended Posts

Are you referring to the hoses that connect the upper (round) outlets on the heater box with the defroster nozzles?

IIRC they're kinda intuitive; the hoses are flexible and are the same diameter and a friction fit at each end.  If you're having trouble sliding the hose onto their nipples, use a little silicone spray or grease so they'll push on more easily.  I think you can reach the passenger side by opening the glovebox, and the driver's side with a little patience, reaching around the steering column and all that wiring.

For the defrost vents I would think you need to fix them to the dash before the dash is installed. How you get to the attachment on the corner is beyond me. The one at the other end may well be accessible.

For the ducts, what Mike said, unless you have a RHD car as you need Kevlar gloves to snake it behind the hanging pedals. I'm sure my scars will heal eventually.

Or, if you mean the two deflector vents under the box, they are held in with a plastic "plug" (similar idea to the door panels). Vents are marked L & R so you can't go wrong.......unless you're upside down under the dash.

Justin - hopefully the following pics will help you.

I believe they have to be attached to the dash before the dash is fitted. I have all the under dash panels removed on my Touring and I cannot get my hand (fingers) on the nut near the end of the dash. Maybe someone else can chime in with a method if, in the unlikely event, it is possible to fit them with the dash fitted. FWIW, the nuts fit onto studs which are fixed to (part of) the dash.

  • 4 years later...

Anybody have their glove box hit the defroster plastic vent in the dash?  I've got a hodge podge of pieces and when I try to get the glove box in there it hits the defrost vent... The actual plastic bit that directs air up to the windshield comes in contact with the lateral / outside / right side vertical part of the glove box when attempting to close.

Dave.
