T Rex is pretty darn cool....showing good imagination.....note: the arms are too long...
Save if for the hood of your next monster truck
Lol! I agree about the arms. I mentioned something about it when he was just about to tack them on but I didn't want to snuff out his creativity. His father (my sisters ex) is the type to micromanage and tell the kids they're wrong all the time so I just let him do whatever.
I suggested he put it on his shelf for a few years and when he gets his first car we could attach it to that!

My wheel spacers came in so I put those on today. While I was at it I went ahead and removed the spacers above the front struts and cut all the springs by a half a coil. The half coil only made about a half inch difference so far but I'll measure again next week to see if it settles anymore before I cut another half coil to get it a little lower. Long term plan is to get good quality sport shocks and springs but i still have a lot to do on this project before I start spending money on non essentials... 20171110_165324.thumb.jpg.93d54dfb86ebc054b405fa6b0a9c190b.jpgc2e764f5a84dfbc4a38e8bba9e8f8097.jpg&key=76cda3003a0bd2ae0821ea7b4b13368f3bb711bddab85996260a3899abb8a735213937f1ba439bbf8a26e5ca6823e77f.jpg&key=af90e91f50dcf59e1cbf97ae4a66cd95c11d8b8c09562b29f0d8b00b19b08885701881dbb50551f9c751430f17f15452.jpg&key=a8e25ffa9105c083f5016f6b7900244294f1955e092c25cb97bead14f2b14b51675fe1f7a30104f3a7891e11e387f099.jpg&key=b86563402470703bf9aa914740a646f1004d94efc5de5e00b48c4fa471e3d748

Haven't made much progress in the last couple weeks. Pulled the back windows. The rubber had all turned to hard brittle plastic that pretty much just shattered in my hands while taking it out. I was half tempted to laze out and just mask those windows off an just spray around them... Im glad I didn't because there was a ton of crud under there with rust forming. Not looking forward to buying/replacing all the rubber but happy that I chose to do it the right way.

I also tackled the rust on the lower front nose. Rather than patch it I decided to cut it all out and make the openings into vents. While cutting the rust out I found a couple old screwdrivers, a pair of needle nose pliers and a couple other random things inside the nose. The pliers were rusted into one solid piece but one of the screwdrivers was a craftsman so "score!".

I folded over some sheet metal and framed in the openings for nice clean edges. Once they were framed in the nose was nice and firm again. I'll install grill mesh behind the openings after paint. I think the vents will barely be noticeable when all said and done but they may actually look cool... If not an air dam will cover them. 7ffb2e85cb82c95c966fc58356576cd9.jpg&key=7d4bcb0ff1a4a40ed7fa6f760ddd8aec3645b6cf7dfcd184a1a49d44250e0f26d82a6b6fb2d1080370dbc10913876485.jpg&key=445c2cc7365241308be92c7d2816bec19e9cebeb847f0012a16505e519fdc647e17c7e55ec5d10874e5e202b574868d6.jpg&key=d7fec1102c73260d92f138ce8a41b7f976346241339a35775b3d9c593c10e9c3ae1fc6805539aad234b1b0508dd3ed49.jpg&key=9bd5667e4721a6b61ffba6ea534cc62aea1e6c4a77c9d06d1aff63fc2a29cb59de314854657606198a50314b6f887b98.jpg&key=06ca04bc5f9be5bb185e6142f497e7a583d3899146aa5b7c6d35a77beb5ee768c4e255062405b21a08381eb95aece9bf.jpg&key=dcc630ee45860c8fed24a7862bfe18ccbe6f0d5b5501615f1ad925a18c72592474febc0740c03d159b148ed01cc68a9e.jpg&key=4cf762f00df9852686c72fd052dcd30750232cf22888ccbc842566f94ffe08b922904e1ec0622af0a34e656be1e2dc73.jpg&key=39c279bc9bbc089d04026dc0104e0eada63d287797887deadfb285ac988b1735399098a52b7f1bccb92b864b177a6ae0.jpg&key=f31d176c2d50964d844a5fefc8d0503893c9402a59bb2d9e4fe33bcbc71a380681acf62ac47368b40c282214cfb4c1fd.jpg&key=87d122c2a88f695d387550352c87a89fc5a2eca8a04a2f039124103682e09fd5a5cc99e50337f13294e94ab314734d1c.jpg&key=cde16fce2dfafa3421592cd1d83f905ffc854b952c2d02a1f34a701ea0dfd5fb8ee446693c530e284cdf2ef738861d58.jpg&key=a499341d3c3f480efa5d7acd1f10026c0050d7ad08941dc7a35f42b69b6caddf6f1154902cbe61eaf5ebfd435edbb83e.jpg&key=980dd87dcd808554e179c1c4d51ab703d6f39c3c6aeb25b0628410f9a3c8b559

Nice mod and nice work.  Hope it works as intended though I think it'll work great.

I especially liked the part where you recovered all that stuff from the black hole in the nose.  Over the years I have wondered what I've lost in mine.

Hmmmm...what's the update?
Yeah... Long time, no post. We got real busy in the shop right before the holidays so I had to divert attention away from the 02'. Unfortunately I then had to let one of my main guys go right after that so I'm having to be more hands on than I would like until things balance back out around here. I wanted to jump back on it for a day last week and make some more progress but it's been so cold I just never did.
It is sad seeing it sitting over in the corner all covered up but to be honest my batteries were run down pretty low on it after going so hard for those few months. I figure by the time it warms back up I'll knock out the the remaining body work, paint it up, reinstall windows and be ready to enjoy it somewhere around mid spring... Hopefully.
I'll be needing a nice fun / slow car soon also... I just got a MASSIVE speeding ticket in my M5 so I'm letting it go to calm the storm In the house...

Made some progress today on body work... Drivers side is almost done but still needs some love in a few spots. Threw a coat of spray paint on the fenders just to get a feel for progress (and to boost morale).
Passenger side still has a ways to go but it's getting there...
Bondo'ing and sanding is a big part of cabinetry but doing it on a car with tons of curves and body lines F'ing sucks... Not a fan. I don't plan to do this again for a while. 5fe890b541d39cf4be1689c7e8be93f0.jpgd07ade5f939926c3ab7f5dc08847bbc1.jpgdf8aca47f864cb00bc8840f83c28cc3e.jpg

Dropped the o2 of at my neighbors restoration shop to have him fine tune my body work and let him do hrs and hrs of block sanding. I'm also in the process of modifying a nice wheel I bought for an f100 I restored years ago but never used. I popped the badge off the original o2 wheel and am having the horn button milled out so it sits flush. I think it's going to look pretty good in the o2.

Anxious to get the car back in a few weeks completely primed and ready for paint. 2c9cdb82004feec5db436760d7e7e4a3.jpg&key=fb64e882be50e103f0febd8b3f3239e07facebae586e7a24f915e34268acc45a50c711bf3f8c459758c61f12a14491e4.jpg&key=9267c60b470750a2948536a0cac85e1fcad3bcffd75bb5be334362cb28fdc34c

Really enjoying your progress on the car, it's looking great and coming right along. I picked one up recently as well (a '67 1600) but it's still freezing here (Chicago), so it's nice to see someone else making some headway. What body color are you going to go with?
Up until recently I had planned to paint the o2 white to match my M5 but I just got a MASSIVE speeding ticket in that so to make the wife happy and hopefully the courts I have decided to part ways with it. With that being the case I have decided not to go with white. It will be a bmw color but I've decided not to say what the color will be until it's on the car just for the fun of a surprise!
I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying my progress, it definitely helps the motivation to keep at it.

Just got some progress pictures in from the body shop. Getting excited now.
The new uro seal set also arrived. I wanted to get some of the seals in oem but the prices just seemed so over inflated. Still a few more pieces of rubber needed but now I have the bulk. 34107e07c6e71e9e071fd14b084fbc40.jpg7e26f7e236ff7c3832e21c89006c53f6.jpgfa2844a8bce45886f9c918293bd1b016.jpgc9b8b32a9b714aaaf63140ee2b9cdf9d.jpgb1b0ea2b81763707e1fd4a0865ead329.jpg5c235764192240629ab767e2db3b9456.jpg387c7ef38d4078b058dc4458d7eed9cd.jpg15c379f0d1e33c54691317facadfc7c4.jpg5f41a0eab105e22f4f023ff2c4ab8728.jpg

Been watching your build, can't wait to see it done. One note, just finished mine a year or 2 ago and wish I would have sprung for the BMW door seals..I have no issue with the windshield and back window seal but am very tired of slamming my doors due to the Uro door seals. Worth the extra money for doors by far, will be replacing mine soon. Good luck and will be following along to see car in paint!!!

Hey man just go for it. Show cars aren’t for everyone. Myself included. I found an auto 74’ for 2000. Didn’t wanna miss the shot since they’re usually around 4000 and up in my area and that’s for a beat up one like the one I got. I’m not planning on a full restoration. Just something fun to drive like you said. Stop the rust and just drive it. I wish to do a manual swap at some point. If not I may end up doing m42 swap much easier to come by.
