We used glass very fine, leaves a very fine texture to metal, glasurit single stage Inka orange...three hours start to finish I had used stripper to remove paint from hood/roof/trunk/side doors to keep from warping those areas...

SHES RUNNING!

(The engine bay is getting a full clean to remove that tar once we have the space to pull the engine and get access to some water)

Still need a fair amount of work but it's been a few years since this car has been moving. Next moves are re stuff the seats and either fix the tears or just do a new interior(undecided), new carpet kit, new wheels and tires (very much undecided if anyone has any recommendations feel free to chime in) New springs and shocks will happen once we move into a bigger garage. Replacing all of the fuel lines and changing to braided brake lines.

As well still have to figure out my door alignment issue, the door and trim line up but the door doesn't sit flush so locking the car is a bit of an issue. And if all works out next fall I'll be bringing it in to repaint the car granada

Brake job on Mercedes daily and gave my baby a bath! Thought that was the highlight of the day till my new 02 friend Dan showed up with his 72 38/38

Beautifully rough but believe it or not I have never driven another  02.... till today. His has such great grunt and pull and was wondering if 38 is the reason?

He got to drive mine and loved it but thought the newly rebuilt motor could fly with better exhaust and maybe something more than 32/36

Great fun!! Forgot pix though ?

Good story from him too He discovered it languishing in downtown Raleigh and guy wanted $3500. He offered $2002 and got it

Finally got around to sound Insulating the doors and installing door cards. After that I went to a small local euro cars and coffee. People seemed to dig the o2 so that felt good after all the work I've done. Saw a pretty cool mini there also. 56f0a90c83a5b8ccf7ef34dee94763e1.jpg20180929_175858.jpeg20180929_174759.jpeged9d7e81af19cd1d189d9d9349bfd15d.jpg

I worked on my drivers door as well. Yesterday, I visited Tom ('76mintgrün'02) we had a good visit and spend a beautiful day in the sun and shop. He TIG welded a broken door stop bracket back in it's proper place and carefully repaired a nasty crack in the lower back part of the window frame. This crack had been slowly growing and there was very little metal to work with but he persevered. After that we installed a replacement door stop.  I left Toms with excellent fresh apple cider, apples and carrots from his garden.

Today, after a bit of prep work I applied some sheets of self adhering vibration/sound dampening material to the inside of the outer door skin.and then put it all back together after tightening and lubing everything I could see, Door operation is perfect and closes properly, probably pretty close to when it was new. Previously it rattled and felt really loose. Glad to be finished with the driver's door, next up is the passenger door.  Here's a pic of the tricky TIG repair to the cracked door metal.  I'll clean it up a bit, paint and install the last little trim piece and be good to go. I'm grateful for Tom and all his help. He really cares about what he's doing and it shows. I had to tell him it was good enough, he wanted to keep at it until it was perfect in appearance.
