Hans surprised us with an exploded clutch master cylinder yesterday! Got to work taking it out, as well as the slave cylinder. Rusted in reeeaaal good. But we got the back seats in, so now we have a place to sit and contemplate our life choices..

Fortunately 4 speeds are cheap and plentiful...

Today was a good day, just received a few pictures from the body shop looks like they finally finished the Malibu that was a custom redo that was holding what they call the complete car repaint line. The end of the month may be possible....

Took a trip down memory lane. I tracked down and chatted with one of the early US owners of my 1971 2002tii (Thanks @02Les for the leads). My car was imported to Newport News, Virginia from Italy. The car then ended up in Florida for many years before migrating out west. The previous owner said he thinks about this car daily, and had wondered where it ended up. He shared some photos and much info on the car. Hopefully he can dig up the 70/ 71 FL plates he had on the car back in the day so I can reunite them with the 2002 (and possibly try to run them again). Here are a few of the pictures:

Finally POR’d the inside of the nose of the blue ‘73. It’s nice to have the grilles back on. I hit the hood with some rubbing compound it get a little shine back.

I also pulled the seats, center console, carpet, and tar boards to get started on the floor pan repairs.

It is. It’s quite solid besides the front floor

pans and the trunk well. I suspect if you stripped and dipped this car there would be NO surpises. It’s just had a few really bad paint jobs.

Blue ‘73

I replaced the rusted section of the LF floor pan and and the firewall surrounding the bottom of the pedal box. I’ve still got a small patch to the right if the gas pedal to make and reattach the pedal pivot, but it’s about time to switch to working on the right side.

Chamonix ‘73

I placed and welded in the LR floor pan, added some bracing and started cutting away the outer rocker to make way for the  inner rocker repairs.
