Completed the ‘destinkifying’ of my trunk. Replaced the sleeve on the the fuel pick up (yes, my old one had a crack running along it) and swapped out the incorrect filler neck that I had installed for a number of years. I got sent the wrong part by a supplier a few years ago and needed to fit it anyway, so encouraged it to fit. I never got around to replacing it until now.

I also added a non retun valve to the fuel line because I was in there.

Thanks to @halboyles for being my parts coordinator, including the pick up sleeve part.

Nice clamps. I need to buy a couple dozen in each size and stop using the crap ones I have been ?

I picked up a couple of BMW sidedraft manifolds. They were covered in aluminium oxide but a whizz over with a plastic abrasive brush in an electric drill plus a wipe over with some Penetrol and they look a lot better.

I was going to use these instead of the Canon manifolds that I have got for my Solex 40PHH conversion (that has sat on the shelf for years, inching towards commencement). Looking at them closer it appears that someone has hogged them out to 45mm so they might not go too well with the PHH peashooters.

Perhaps I will keep them until I give in and add a pair of 45 DCOEs or throttle bodies since I will probably go injection after these carbs.

uh-ohh, that’s too big. I wonder what impact that would have on the 40mm carbs choked down to 34mm when the gases expand in the back of the carb and slow down?

Had a garage day with a number of the SH02 fellas on Saturday, 2/16, with LED light upgrades and carb adjustment sessions in the sunny Northern Ca. Then the sky dumped some intermittent rain in the process. Oh, then my carb decided to crap out after that.

Had to do a carb swap with extra set from one of the fellas stash to get me home. Have to do a tear-down on my carb to see what the hell went wrong...perplexed.

Pre-installed another set of fog lights (yet to be wired). It looked pretty nice (IMO) with the amber contrast to the white hella.9ee1ae974d3526c42840d3b6e2d3d8f1.jpg3e904b71fa9c2a4773022c9e9b6a6cfe.jpgca6f26ab677b68a70a27f445046e23ef.jpg9aa89a207b334dfb0445ede3d148f506.jpg3ffddb49d63363ccc8740d8c05033302.jpg

Test fit 16x7 at 30mm. Good in the back, a little trimming required in the front to run 225/50-16. It's big, but I need more room inside the wheel to run a bump steer correction spacer... Even with that big ass tire, the combination is 5 pounds lighter per wheel (stock e30m3 (205/55-15) vs Kosei K1.)

Well we are almost to just like that, first final primer / block sand...

How did you remove the paint? Did you get it media blasted first or simply manual sanding?
