One step forward, one step back...

Finally finished bench testing and tweaking my new fancy touch screen controlled heater box:

• PWM controlled fan works

• Electric water valve works

• Blend door works

• Mode doors work

So I finished riveting up the box and installing it into the car.

It's not the prettiest thing, but it's pretty tough, being aluminum, and I think will hold up well. I went through a few iterations and tweaks so there were a few holes that I had created that I had to plug up. Sure looks ugly... haha. Good thing no one will ever actually see it.

The mode doors are basically stand alone butterfly valves that plug in to the 3 outlets at the bottom of the box. They are independently controlled and can be set to open or close air flow to face, feet, and defog. They press on to the outlets and then the metal band holds them in place.

I'll get some vids soon of it all functioning. It's all wired up and awesome. Just have to get the carpet tacked down, stick the center console in, and hook up the mode doors to the outlets.

I will be using the old heater control lever slots in the dashboard as the face vents. I will be 3d printing some vents that will screw in the same way as the old heater controls did. I think it will be pretty cool.

And the step back... My radiator sprung a leak :( WELL, good thing I was planning on getting a new one anyways,

Tired of seeing all the tweaking and tuning and driving and enjoying of everyone else’s 2002’s, so, with the sun out I finally got busy today. Hit the hood, trunk lid, spoiler, and sunroof with the Glasurit primer, which will be my final coat before adding color. I hope to get the rest of the car in the booth tomorrow, at least spraying the engine bay, trunk, door jambs, and nose. Depending on how long that takes maybe I can shoot the whole car...

I found some go kart weld on parts to use for my home made fog brackets . Pitman arm steering part here has a nice rounded end. I

just center punch and drilled out the hole. The Marchal upper cone wedge spacer fits the O.D. Perfectly . Did not have to trim off any of the length either . Mig welded it to some 1/8” scrap I had and drilled the two holes to mount behind the grill. Bolted up it fits perfectly so the grill can slide on and off and I did not have to cut out the plastic vertical  web on the 74-76 grill.
