I don't know if that's enough clearance. Standard minimum is .080 intake and .100 exhaust. It looks tighter than that in pics

Ahk - I wasn’t clear. That clay check was dropping the valves all the way down into the pocket, to measure clearance between the outside of the valve and inside of the pocket. Piston to valve clearance was checked separately (met your minimum =).

Very cool!  Blasko Racing pistons.  Beautiful.

Please excuse my lack of knowledge.  Does the test give you (what looks like)1mm clearance that I've circled in your pic?  I didn't realize the valves could come that close to the piston without concern of touching at high rpms.

As you suspected, 1 mm p to v clearance would be a mess. See explanation above.

Very nice Ken. What gas can you use with those beautiful pistons? 91 with octane boost?? Or 113 leaded.?

That dome design is for +/- 13:1 - so yeah, high octane (110 leaded is what we run at the track). I’ve got dome profiles in the system for 121, e12 and e21 head casting chambers, for both street (9.5 - 10:1 C/R) and race applications. The more measurements like this I take and document, the better I can dial-in the design. -KB

Today I installed a new accel pedal and passenger side door handle. First time in 2 years I can open the that door from the inside.

Also tried my hand a power buffing/waxing the horizontal surfaces of the car. Friend from work lent me his equipment. Turned out pretty good considering.

Decided if I borrowed the equipment I might as well buff out the rest of the car. Used my normal Turtle Wax so nothing severe but it turned out pretty good in my book. Loosing the light, but she looks pretty good in the cloudy late afternoon.

Got this put in along with new control arms and stainless steel braided brake hoses.

What an absolute B****...

I almost decapitated myself getting one of the old balljoints out of the pitman arms with a separator tool. Hit it once with a hammer when the separator was torqued down and the balljoint went FLYING by. Also getting old brake hoses off is not happy hour.

Took apart my new to me black bezel instrument panel. Removing the glass is not for the faint of heart.Hopefully it all goes back together.  I cleaned and taped it off for some matte white paint on the back side, but of course I need to buy some paint.

Hopefully I can repair the odometer and get it all together this weekend.

Spent a good bit of time on my back the past few days: Lighter flywheel and clutch in, different 4 speed swapped in (cross fingers), wrestled the driveshaft and ear diff into place again (had the new diff hanger mounts backwards) but at least its all forward progress!

Taking much longer for each little job to get done.

I did squeeze in a little job I can say is 100% done: A very rust encrusted set of tools went in a vinegar bath, wire wheel, sanding and even painting, so at least I can toss this in the trunk and other than finding a plug tube I can call it a day.

Thanks. I impressed myself...

Spray...

Ton of prep, lots of tape and paint shields

I'm POR 15 EVERYTHING. I'm outta control.  Just Por 15' my neighbors Pitbull's rusty dog collar. The spikes were really rusty. Not easy the dog kept wanting to rip me to shreds...
