Nice! That even looks like the same brand of carbon fiber vinyl?? The slightly more expensive ones on amazon had a different pattern in the pictures. VViViD?

3M vinyl, bought a couple years ago for something else and had a bunch leftover.

SANDED DOWN MY O2’S FUEL TANK:

Lots of incidental bumps/dents.  Cant say it’s not original 40yr dents and all

I needed to mar the surface paint and when I did,  rust showed up “UNDER THE NICE BLACK PAINT” so... I sanded the whole thing keeping an eye for hidden rust.

THis shot looks as though I had already painted it REALLY glossy but in reality,  its an optical illusion.  Those white areas are not shinnyness,  it’s sanding to the metal.  I’m going to use POR 15 metal grease and grime cleaner followed by  etch&prep after which I will paint the tank with POR15.

Back in December I purchased the belt line trim from Chris for the doors on my ride. My originals had dings and looked very shitty. The after market belt is made of stainless steel and its very nice and shiny. I totally ignored his introductions, I popped the hood removed the old trim, the bitch was removing that rusted metal tab, I used some wrench it oil for the trim to slide each plastic clip without even removing them from the car,  so basically I used the same plastic clips, and used the new metal tab closer to the lock, the first side was a bit of an issue because of my lack of knowledge. The second door was a breeze and they look awesome.

Finished getting the exhaust manifold & studs out in preparation for an IE header/exhaust install. Mocked everything in place so I can get a bung welded in for AFR sensor. Has anyone mounted in the "flange adapter" vs. the actual header? I just don't seem to have enough room to mount the sensor on the header and get the angle greater than 10deg from horizontal. I think I will need to get the option AEM stainless bung to do install in the stainless flange adapter?

I also partially installed the new MOMO California wheel I got for Christmas. I'm just waiting on a BMW horn button. Anyone want a well worn E21 wheel?

Lastly I'm waiting on parts from the Czech Republic for my dual Weber DCOE 40 install!

Sand the inside also.

Nice wheel!

My sensor is mounted after the downpipe, in front of the muffler pretty much horizontal. Hasn't failed.

Cheers,

Ray

Played w/ my 123 Switched Distributor. This unit is the basic model with 16 pre programmed curves. I had been running on Program setting #1 for the last 6 months, decided to switch it to Program #2.  Jotted down the ignition curve data for the log book. On another rainy day I try some of the other Programs.

Prog. 1 RPM     *BTDC         Prog, 2 *BTDC        (Prog. 2 w/ vac)

800                      11                10                               21

1000                    15                16

1500                    19                22                               32

2000                    25                31                               35

2500                    29                33                               40

3000                    31                35                               45

3500                    31                35

After a short test drive it seems to be a bit peppier moved the shift point up to around 4000 rpm.

Started making a new throttle linkage -> cable assembly to hook up to the EFI throttle body. Unfortunately I have to wait until tomorrow for a suitable throttle cable to arrive, as the local auto parts stores didn't have anything in stock. Tomorrow evening I hope to get that done. I did get some steel rod and thread the end to accept the M6 clip on the stock linkage. I plan on making a shorter version so I don't have to butcher the stock one or modify the pedal assembly in any way.

Figured out my configuration issue in Speeduino and am now receiving RPM readings (in addition to all the sensor readings). I think once the fuel is supplied it will start right up! Well, it will need a good deal of tuning surely. This will be fun.

I hooked up the fuel pump and ran pressure through the system. It turns out the old fuel pressure regulator I had acquired some time ago is leaking at the seams. So I guess the internal diaphragm is done for. Ordered a new one online.

Getting really close now! I think maybe next weekend I will be able to attempt a first start.
