What did you do to your 2002 today !

Recommended Posts

Long time no post but have been reading up on all of your exploits. Lock down has inspired me to get at long neglected project. I must confess to having considering abandoning it so I am grateful for having the time. Pulled the old patch one of the previous owners had on the passenger side. No real surprises but what have you guys found best to do the fine work, a thin cut off wheel or a grinder or combo of both?

Thanks!

If it "ran when parked" you wouldn't have parked it!

My wife Tory helped again today and we installed the pedal box...the last picture shows how I cut the pedals off and re-welded them on about 3/4” farther from gas pedal to give me a little more foot room on the pedal....

Thanks Mike. Got all the vertical stuff with my air chisel. Will pick up a thin cut off tomorrow and post results.

Pick up a pack rather then one.  They self sacrifice pretty quickly when cutting so you will go through a few.  They also grind welds flat better than a flap wheel with less of a tendency to gouge or overheat the metal.

This is my first post here, it's abit messy but I finally got to start my car again

As you get the car more complete, keep posting pics.  When it's complete add to the "Beauty Shots" thread.  Good work.  Retromods more than welcome!  I'd also like to hear about output performance and handling.

Little more progress today removing what is left of the original floor pan. Still need to grind off a bit more before I start the fitment.

Hit the inside with a wire wheel and soaked it with Ospho to kill the rust. The yellow paint lets me know how big the replacement pan is.
