His e9 is simply unbelievable. Triple Webers and a 123 tuned so well it drives like a modern, fuel injected car. Doors close so smoothly and the windows operate like new, too. I was blown away by it.

Here we are a few years ago on my home from O Fest, Steve and friends out for a Sunday drive.

Morning cruise on Sarasota’s coastal drives, and a little cars ‘n coffee action up on Longboat Key, before dropping in on the local dealer to pick up some extra long CSB t-head bolts for a final driveline adjustment.  And to show off the finest vintage Bavarian rides in town, of course.  Steve and I swapped steeds halfway through, and I got to enjoy his e9 — or better said, maybe a third of it.  We’d have needed a lot more road to enjoy the other two-thirds.  Ed, you are right: that coupe is a beauty — and a beast.AF820BB1-B597-4DDC-8E81-6D2089125B7C.thumb.jpeg.30fbfb13c87bbecdfcb977dae3635d24.jpeg278AC4A6-88A1-4C46-A8C5-D0DEF0006B68.thumb.jpeg.83fb155c15bfcaa9520d513b0ea86b86.jpeg

Thanks but the accolades are debatable; looks like I'll need to change my name to Steve_youneverknow.  Please visit me and the famous Wheeler Dealer Tii!

Decided it was time to jump in feet first and address numerous door issues including a broken left side window register (failed outer spring pin… cobbled up a replacement with hardware from the parts bins), scratched left-side window (replacement on order), right side window adjustment (close up gap causing wind noise at the top rear corner), door card TLC (gonna give the chrome Mylar treatment on the trim a try), and new thicker visqueen moisture barriers for the door cards. The left side window parts were pulled and cleaned of 50 year old grease, awaiting the new window…

The flex disk didn't look great, but I didn't think it was going to come out in pieces.

Also did a few bushing in the linkage,  those weird mounts at the top, Trans mount, adjusted the muffler so it's not hitting the bumper anymore, checked the chassis for square (seems fine), rolled a fender so the  tire wouldn't rub (must be body work or rear subframe issue), and power washed the whole underside so I can do the steering box next.

Oh and ordered more parts, I didn't realize some things needed to be bought in twos.

It was a two dilly bar day.

Installed the Kooglewerks header and exhaust over the weekend.

The fit is excellent and pretty straight forward. Quality is top tier also.

So far everyone thats heard it likes it a lot. It's a little louder than I thought it would be, but then I'm old.

I'll try to figure out how to do video's.

Expensive yes, worth it ? Very much so, every penny.  The car revs and breaths much better above 4500-5000 and just wants to climb.

I think the 40DCOE'S Webers will need a little fine tuning its that much better.

I had a used IE header and I believe stock exhaust that I replaced.

Got off my keester and got some things done on the Inka car.

New KFisch toothed belt.
New water pump.

Replaced starter with the smaller S14 style (learned that the Tii stabilizing bracket has to remain, but doesn’t match up with the smaller starter).

Removed the alternator to have it check/rebuilt. (Needs new bushings, too)

Car came with the new parts... glad it had the new water pump!

Gotta keep plugging away in an attempt to keep pace with Barney ?

Back on the Inka car tonight.

New NGK plugs

Valve adjustment

Painted TDC marks on flywheel and lower crank pulley

New points and condenser... there were no points in the dizzy annnnnd it’s missing the grub screw. I’m searching the stash for an old dizzy to rob parts from.

Dropped off the alternator and radiator to be rebuilt.
