Good day with the Inka.

Fixed my non-op horn. Traced the wiring down to the relay… stole the one off my ‘71 and now the horn works. (Wish I could find a proper, round,  Hella relay to replace it)

Adjusted my valves for the second time in as many days. I got in a hurry yesterday and when I cranked it up it was ticking loudly. Took my time this morning and now it purrs like it’s supposed to.

Wired in some vintage Notek fog lights only to find one lamp is out. That lamp is obsolete (made by Mazda, actually) I think I can make an H3 lamp work… we’ll see.

Added a 3rd brake light up high in the rear windshield…some of the LEDs aren’t illuminating…oh well.

Then installed new seat belts from W&N (sorry BlueDevils…)

Then I drove it for about an hour, enjoying the cool weather we finally have around here. 😎

She's a beauty!

I'm a BIG fan of the pair of Hella horns (the pair I bought was NOS and had no wiring in the box), so also found a tight wiring harness.

Wiring harness:  https://www.amazon.com/iJDMTOY-Wiring-Harness-Grille-Included/dp/B00XM107FC

Enjoy her!

Finished reinstalling the center console after the carpet install. I designed a cup holder based on a design I saw on eBay.  I needed it large enough to hold my large Yeti cup. It works surprisingly well. There is just enough flex in the plastic to allow the cup to sit on the carpet while being held tight in the holder.

Took my chances on my last day off before work and pulled my dizzy, coil and all the other mess to change over to crank fire ignition with my Megasquirt. I’ve got to give massive thanks to @AustrianVespaGuy and his MS write up for unknowingly saving my ass:) It took a bit of figuring out degrees to TDC for my trigger wheel but it’s so smooth now and is 200% better than dizzy Fire. Now onto the air/fuel side.

did you make up a little plate to mount the coil pack and plug the distributor housing? Good looking solution.

Thanks, I had ordered the plug and mount plate from 02again but since I used the IGN-4 coil it didn’t line up so I made a simple one from some scrap skidplate aluminum. 02again gets the idea credit;)

You can always do like I did and package a new relay in the old case.

I will definitely be doing that if I can't locate an suitable original one!  Thanks so much for the link and the part numbers!

The original relay on my '73 had 4 poles and the replacement one I purchased off ebay had three.  That's why I did what I did.  Zinz, is yours a 4-pole or a 3-pole?  Make sure you get the correct one if you go to purchase an original one somewhere.  The part # on my epoxy filled one is the 3-pole that I converted over to 4.

Finally completed drivers door outer skin replacement project.  While getting the door ready for paint, block sanding the guide coat revealed some low areas on the bottom edge that required a skim coat and more block sanding. The fresh chamonix paint on the door was a close match to the original color but off enough to bother me. To correct I used a sata mini jet gun to blend the new paint into the old on quarter panel.  Then finished up by wet sanding and buffing. Now that the drivers door is fixed, the dings on the passenger door is going to bother me. I’ll call that “patina” a little longer. 🙂

@72pdx02 this looks fantastic!  Does this blending only work when you have single-stage paint (else you would have to re-do the clear coat on the whole rear fender, right)?

Yes, single stage is pretty easy. I learned a lot watching my dad growing up. I’m just a hobbyist. I like to watch paint society on YouTube as well. He has some good videos to watch if you have never used a spray gun before.

Thank you for the compliment.

Thanks!  I've got a paint job in my near future, and was planning on tackling some/all of it on my own (at least the prep, not sure about the actual spraying yet), but I'm in the early research phases.  I appreciate the link!
