My oil dipstick looks like it was originally painted red.

I was thinking of repainting mine. Now that I see yours, what is the correct color? Red or Yellow?

I have a pre-1971 model year 02

My '70 had a red dipstick when I bought it in 1980.

Re: yellow - Krylon or Rustoleum have a "Safety yellow" spray that looks good.

Installed an SSI rear stabilizer bar. What a difference in handling!

Replaced two tailpipe rubber hangers. It looked like it would be an easy task? Not so! No more thumping now.

Installed an aftermarket coolent recovery tank. I guess this model year didn't provide one.

Adjusted my difficult to open trunk latch. Much easier now.

Fitted a lambs wool seat cover on drivers seat. Now I don't burn my thighs when wearing shorts in Utah's 100 degree days.

I finally got the side trim fitted correctly. The PO mounted the flairs incorrectly so I had to clearance the trim.   10 times on and off, new seals and on they went.  What a pain. glad that side is done.  One more to go.

Also re-jetted the carb... runs better now.

Nothing too exciting but just added a blaupunkt under seat subwoofer to my basic sound system.  On the odd occasion u don't wish to listen to a Weber carbed and crammed up m10 stroker it works nice making the small speakers sound better

Who did your engine overhaul? No one here in Utah seems qualified to overhaul an old BMW engine. They only know what the computer read out tells them what to exchange! Local BMW dealer and local BMW specialty shops don't have anyone old enough? might have to ship the engine when it comes time.

I overhauled my engine! I own an independent repair shop in Colorado Springs, CO. Ive been spinning wrenches on 2002's since the early 80s. Happy to assist you when the time comes.

Mounted up the Megasquirt brain and O2 Sensor gauge in the glove box, routed the sensor under the car, installed and plumped the new clutch master cylinder, tidied up the carpet, installed an IE Billet Brake Pedal (still needs some fiddling), mounted electronic fuel pump above the diff, wired that up, ran a new fuel return line to the tank (finding a good route was more difficult than expected), bolted up the new seats, rowed through the gears a few times and called it a weekend. Need to finish up the throttle, wire in the EDIS module, final sensor connections, buy new spark plugs since the cables I bought are for the modern style plugs, fill it up with oil, plug in the laptop and find the next set of headaches. Oh and hit that glovebox with another round of Simple Green.

I was hearing this annoying noise (like grinding) when opening and closing my car hood. So I decided to figure out what's up with it. Removed bonnet torsion bar out and did some cleaning and lubricating on pivoting sections. Noise is gone now and managed not scratch my aprons.
