Finished off installation of my Blunt Tech 5-speed swap kit. Wow, what a difference in driveability.

The Blunt Tech kit is excellent. My previoius 5-speed shifter seemed to bind up. It was basically impossible to shit hard & fast from first to second. It felt vague, not crisp and mechanical. The deck mounted with a rubber rear mount that I broke twice while autocrossing or on track.

I can shift the car now with two fingers and without the first-second binding issue. The throw is shorter and it feels tight and mechanical now.

I started cleaning the undercarriage up a bit and was wondering what would be the best product for protecting metal without looking like I’m trying to hide anything. The wire brush I’ve been using takes off all the surface dirt and caked on crap and I’ve not seen any surface oxidation that hasn’t comes off easily.

Finally got to meet my new car!  Bennie is a 1971 ‘02 part way done as a Ti tribute.  Delivered a day early so garage wasn’t ready - oh well!   Finding the bmw2002faq forum gave me confidence that buying a 49 year old car was OK.  I have gained a new car AND a bunch of new friends!!

It was a very good day. The Houston group has some very fine cars...wow! Several original owners and a genuine Turbo, too. Very impressive display of hardware.

Congrats, Mike!

These cars always look so... crisp and elegant in their original steelies and full wheel covers.

(Those rims should be 5”, unless you’ve banded them! ?)

Best regards,

Steve
