The NK steering wheel is in and the seats are at the upholsterer. Things are moving along!

Apologies if this is the third time i have posted this, but the site is giving me fits today.  Managed to get the center link off — after the rear hub and spindle, the hardest thing I’ve done yet! — and drop the steering box.  Intend to rebuild using the Argentine parts imported for several of us by Rob Ford.  Several degrees of difficulty above either of the aforementioned jobs, I fear.

Hard to see in the attached photo, but my steering box cap originally was painted the same orange/red as the 177 boxes.  HAS ANYONE GOT THE PAINT COLOR CODE FOR THAT RED?

Today I bought some 3" X 3/16" Aluminum bar stock and remade the outer seat adapter brackets for the seat rails.  After I bought these seats last summer I "temporarily" mounted then using two small sections of 2" bar stock for the outer rails. This resulted in a slightly wobbly installation.  Running a single, new larger piece for the outer rails made a much better mounting set up.

Still need to pick up some flat black paint and cover up the shinny aluminum plate. Maybe that will be tomorrows job.

Took the car for a short drive and the seat feels much more planted to the car. Small victory.

Extra points if you can identify the pedal steel player...

E21 Recaros installed, put in some carpet padding while the seats were out a la @Mike Self! Dumpster dive deadens driving down the damn highway at speed. Hung the tail out a bit coming off the freeway, first time I could actually feel how it would break loose as I gave it the bean! Butt dyno says E21 seats are +50 hp!

Tested the fuel pump that has been sitting for 4 years dry. Good flow and sounded right. Got the flow going then ran the pump for 20 seconds. Will measure the output in the morning to measure the flow rate. Don’t have the tool to measure the pressure. Also finished repairing and rewrapping the harness. Found and fixed a few mangled wires that were covered with masking tape and wrapped in the old loom tape. Still have a few connectors to solder on, but it should be ready when the car comes home from paint on Wednesday!

I do, however, have an AEM AFR meter that I have been very happy with. It fits quite conveniently in the fasten seat belt slot on my dash for now.

I wanted an AFR to monitor my K-Fish in action, I followed Bolt on Bliss and bought the kit that goes inside the Seatbelt Warning box

So, a little PB Blaster, some heat, a Horrible Freight puller, and a little Workingman’s Dead did the trick,  And leaving it overnight with tension on the puller.  Slid right off this morning.3BF0A26C-4463-41D9-B6D7-0248C294D750.jpeg
