Raised motor off of mounts for replacement.  Can’t get any leverage to turn the nut on the back of driver side mount.  Really tight. Gorrilla tight.  Can’t get pipe over wrench because stuff is in the way. I have tried different wrenches and can get a socket on the nut but can't get a bar on the socket. ADB17ABC-6EC3-4DDD-86CF-B1E35F3C10CD.thumb.jpeg.4197dfdc7ae448840a36fa8bf6d06133.jpegC60C85BB-7AF2-4BE8-A4C9-0EE24701380C.thumb.jpeg.57bd8d2eb71a71ac861ca802a426435f.jpeg

I cut off the end of a 17mm box wrench with a hack saw. Now it fits into a pipe. That gave me some leverage and I was able to get the motor mount off

Got both quarter window seals in.  Actually I did the first over a few days, and then the second in about fifteen minutes.  Used a little silicone spray on the lips on the backside a la @Mike Self's column. Trim tool for the little bits of the outer lip that were recalcitrant.  These were URO's bought recently.  Now for the glass...

Need all rubber for my car, how are the URO parts and did you price compare?  I bought some square tail light lenses from then and they look really good.

I bought what brand was available for each application. Apparently the doors are not available anywhere from BMW. I wasn't able to price compare but the non-BMW stuff is less expensive, generally. I have URO door, quarter window, and trunk seals.  I haven't done this before so I can't compare but the stuff has all gone on quite nicely as far as I can tell.  I do have BMW front and rear window gaskets, but I can't speak to them yet as I haven't installed them.  URO seems to be continually trying to improve their stuff.

So I wasn't happy with my cam tool. Had some time to tinker with it and this is what it look like now. Magnets holds the rods in place for now. Tested on a 1.6 L head and it works. Next test will be with hd springs.

As noted in another thread, working on the dang temp gauge issue again after fixing it by adding the various grounds and checking out the gauge cluster.  For some reason it began pegging hot again.  Have a new temp sensor getting delivered today so hopefully that solves it.  I'll also be bleeding brakes this weekened.

First drive in 4+ months!! Up here in MPLS we had a warm trend that melted the snow, then a good two days of rain this past week to wash salt off the roads. Today I got Otto the '76 Mintgrun out of the garage, checked all the necessaries and topped up (always need to add brake fluid and coolant), then went for a 5mi excursion to get oil change parts together.

5 turned into 35. \_(ツ)_/¯

Oil & filter done. Then got the trip meter up to 60. As those in the 4 seasons States know, It begins again...

I took some time today to pry open my Moto Meter Tii clock, cleaned up all the contacts, sourced a new bulb and gave it a good oiling.
It’s much easier to adjust and a little quieter for the ticking

Really happy it works and now lights up

thanks to the FAQ for the archived article on this procedure, I really wish we hadn’t lost all the photos but love the new improvements to the site

all buttoned up ticking happily away
