Got the reply back from the BMW Historics Group about the Inka car, seems it's an early '72 car.

"The BMW 2002 US VIN 2580696 was manufactured on January 28th, 1972 and delivered on January 31st, 1972 to the BMW importer Hoffman Motors Corp. in New York City. The original colour was Inka, paint code 022."

I'll add this to the database

Replaced a cracked giubo, and in the process noticed that my transmission mount was destroyed and offset:

Shifted the trans mounting plate to align the mount during the reinstall of the giubo and mount.

I would suggest upgrading to the e21 transmission mount, much bigger and less flexible.

I had it in my hand!  I bought two of them for my E9 - It looked too big for the Tii.

Well, next time I'm under the car...

Started tearing into the pedal box (more like puddle box) to replace the leaking clutch master cylinder. 175096043_2002puddlebox.thumb.jpg.0efae70739a9f88d92b4cbc263f4fc04.jpg

Should I pull the whole pedal box or leave it in place? I've got a pedal rebuild kit from blunt, but I am a little hesitant to break the seal between the box and frame (heavy coat of POR-15, with silicone in between). Afraid with my luck I will completely unthread the vacuum booster bracket bolt...

Got a new slave cylinder to put in too... Didn't realize there was such little clearance between transmission tunnel and 5 speed... I do have a little access panel cut into the tunnel which I most likely will need to use.

Getting really anxious to go for a drive now that spring weather is upon us. Really torn between just replacing the master cylinder and leaving at that, or having the peace of mind that my clutch pedal will be good for awhile.

Installed a vacuum selector switch to see the difference between ported vs. manifold vacuum to the distributor.

I have always used manifold advance. Low compression and the new gas suggest a 10-degree vac advance at idle is best.

My dizzy has about 2-degrees mechanical advance at 900rpm, so total is 15-degrees with a 3-degree static.

I'm curious to see how throttle response will be with ported vacuum (no advance at idle).

Ahhh...."Idle" minds create WOT (wide open thoughts).

Great minds…. Doing some fine-tuning of my driveshaft alignment today.  Lowered the transmission mount by 1/8” and adjusted the tail of the gearbox slightly to the driver’s side.  Don’t dare let it sit any closer, as it’s perilously close to the tunnel.  This was as close as I could get to even-steven gaps between giubo and transmission outlet flange — a little gap, maybe 1/32”, right at the bottom.  Any opinions on whether this is close enough to button up?  I’m not sure how I could get it much more even…

there’s tape on the roof ?

The Tape is probably holding the Carbon Roof in place while the bonding cures ?
