I tightened my oil filter.

My second replacement clutch master cylinder has a slow drip and I noticed recently that the drip was leaving a puddle, yet the fluid in the reservoir wasn't going down.

It turns out the puddle was oil, not brake fluid and it was due to the filter coming loose.  I was shocked by how much I had to tighten it.

At least it was an easy fix.  That could have been bad.

I think drips always fall at the same relative rate.

I had what appears to be pretty much the same issue, manifested mostly as a shiny spot on the top lip of the block, a sheen of oil on the driver’s side of the pan, and wet hose clamps on the dip stick mount.  But the filter was on tight enough that I had to tap the top edge counterclockwise with a screwdriver to get it loose, and the space in a tii is so tight I am not ruling out the Purolater/block interface — you just can’t see back there.  So today I changed the oil and filter, cinched the filter down as tight as my feeble hands permit (is there a tool that you can actually get into that space to tighten it more?), and cleaned all oil off the surfaces.  Tomorrow I’ll run it and see if it stays clean.

I always hand-tighten the filter .... never had one come loose.

I've been using one of these for a long time to get the filter loose when changing oil.  Back before this tool was invented, I used a set of ChannelLocks to loosen the filter.   This new tool is a wonderful invention ....... and these days I use it to add a small extra bit of "tighten" when installing a new filter.  No reason not to.

Tried a couple of the latter.  Must not be getting the right size as it always slips off.

Just bought from WN and installed new front seatbelts, $153 including tax and shipping , I thought was decent. Came with new hardware. But, doesn’t have electrical connections,  which were disconnected anyway, and doesn’t except the bracket that holds retractor from moving.
My old originals, you couldn’t pull out no matter how slow you pulled.A84E35CB-3B0E-4ED7-AA72-4434508B3A53.thumb.jpeg.569f5f75c229f38b0331fc97e1e6ed2c.jpeg7D583A92-A33E-4329-9722-A1821A2DC7A8.thumb.jpeg.fcfe1cb729c510f8aa4ea4920a910446.jpeg

While waiting on my driveshaft to complete the 5 speed sway, I have been finishing everything else. Wanted to show off how perfect the Koogleworks leather shift boot looks with the Z3 shifter. Like it was made for it really. BTW: The shifting is significantly tighter with the Blunttech setup.

Also gives the opportunity to show the Esty floor mats I've had in for about a month. They go very well with my brown exterior.
