some rust forming from the foam having collected moisture.

Nothing like a wet sponge on metal to add "patina" to your pedal (puddle) box.

I would clean, paint, and seal without the foam.

Time to dig in.  This all happened on the weekend, not today.  Finally removed drivers seat, so I'll no longer get the urge to buzz around town.  Got the paint off the hood (both sides).  Removed what was left of the carpet, removed windows (ran out of time to get the rear glass out).

Doing some more prep work for Vintage - put in my "new to me and refinished Recaros"

Does anyone know where to find the plastic covers for the outsides and insides of the Recaros? Thanks!

Swapped out the guibo (again), re-set the preload on the center support bearing, and turned the front rotors (again).

I replaced the differential back on April 8th of this year with a Z3 limited slip inside a E21 case. I also replaced the transmission mount while I was down there.

After the differential replacement, and the transmission mount replacement, I encountered a slight vibration at around 2500rpm, but  it became violent at around 4000rpm.

I had a factory E21 transmission mount in there, and that thing split in half after about 68,000-miles of use. So I replaced it with an AKG transmission mount. Worst mistake ever, it was sending a tremendous amount of harmonics through the drivetrain.

I thought it may have been an issue with the improper preload on the center support bearing, so I changed that a couple of times, to know avail.

I contacted Blunt and purchased another factory E21 transmission mount, that helped out a ton, but I was still feeling a little bit of vibration going through the drivetrain.

With about 16,000-miles on this guibo, (they typically start the show cracks around the 15,000-mile mark), so I swapped it out for a new one. I also re-set the preload on the center support bearing, that seam to take care of the harmonics that was going through the drivetrain.

The last photo is the list of all the times that I replaced the guibo since installing the S14.

After 20 years finally got my Italian DCOE's that have been sitting in the parts bin on the vehicle. I don't know if it's better than the 38/38 I had but I'll have to fiddle with timing, adjustment, etc. Engine also sounds strange after having the head gasket replaced. Always something. 1993080557_IMG_9903(1).thumb.JPG.438e30447836b1900b6465bbe0d384e8.JPG

Doug are you sure the driveshaft was clocked correctly when you changed the csb?

I need these side covers as well.  Hadn't thought about Aardvaark.   Mine are cracked and tattered.  I had thought to digitally scan/model them for recreation, but haven't had the time.

If you find them, can you post where?

Adjusted the steering box just a little. DIY Front End alignment, tracks much better.

Had my o2 sensor go bad after maybe 700 miles wtf. It's under warranty so will see.

I also started to get a 3000 rpm plus ignition miss. Installed a new cap and rotor and everything appears okay.  What do people get mileage wise out of caps/rotors ?

This cap has only 3k or  4k at most.   Any thoughts ?

For some reason there is nothing more i hate than oil leaks. So during break in i found  some oil under the car and found that dry sump pump leaked from rear cover when engine was shut down. So off came the pump. Today i got new o-ring and put it back together. So far so good.
