I toned the wood darker for the new steering wheel and got the horn button back from the shop I used to mill it out. They already had it epoxied in and I couldn't be happier with the results. fee1a179927d1cfec62eed1cca0718a2.jpgcefb21767573f6825bdb1afb89f1ac55.jpg28d0ca6353573d279815a42e40d9abd5.jpg

I could explain to my wife for a thousand years why guys can Id that sort of stuff from just a small glance and she would still not understand.

My dad had a 150 when I was 10. That was 40 years ago. Still vivid to me.  Don't tell me there's no difference between men and women.  And that's not a bad thing.

That's not a stock ford Color though, I don't think. :)

Tired to push my car out of the garage for the first time since fall 2011, unsuccessful. The front brakes are locked up. I was going to drain the tank and replace the fuel lines at the expansion jar. I won’t do that with the car inside. I’m inviting an old friend over to help me play with the brakes and fuel delivery. Gunther is eighty was born in Germany and trained there. He raced 1600 ti’s and owned the first BMW dealership in my area. Twenty years ago he swapped injection pumps in my driveway. I asked him if he wanted the factory shop manual. He looked at me with disdain and asked, “ What for?”. He got the swapped pump set up in my driveway. Car ran ran great for almost fifteen years till parked with out a single adjustment. I owe him. The car has gotten cleaner over the past month. Still hoping to have her on the road by beginning of April. When the road salt is gone.

Remove the brake pads from the calipers to move the car.  Worked for me on my 69.  Use handbrake to stop!

Speedometer check against GPS

Details:  '76 4-speed with 3:64 diff. Stock steel wheels (5J x 13H2), 185/70 13 tires (pressure: 34 psi).  Original owner...just turned 140K miles today.

Fabulous, John,

And beautifully presented!

Congrats on 140,000 one-owner miles in your ‘76!

So your speedometer is almost perfectly “on” with 185/70 tires.  A typical 185/70 (23.2”) is slightly smaller in overall diameter than a stock 165/80 (23.4”).  The following site shows a .9% speedometer difference.

https://tiresize.com/calculator/

So, with 165/80’s, your actual speed, at 60 mph, would be about 1/2-mph faster than indicated.  Given that my “modern” German cars have been “off” by 1 to 2 mph at 60 mph, I’d say your ‘76 ‘02 is doing pretty darned well.  Your 185/70’s perfectly corrected your speedometer!

As I’ve written previously, my 49-state ‘76, with its stock 3.90 diff. — yours, with a 3.64 diff, is obviously a California version — accidentally came with the same speedometer gearing as yours (the exteriors of the afflicted speedometer heads, however, were stamped “W=1.393”, indicating they were geared for 3.90 diffs), despite the different diff ratios, and shows about 65 1/2 mph when my GPS shows 60 mph!

Best regards,

Steve

Finally some good weather in Toronto to get back at it!   I must admit, I was nervous to remove my nose panel at first, but it turned out to be easier then I thought.  Here's to a good start for the 02' season in 2018!
