So i have a Metric Mechanic 240 5 speed with their mount. Their mount sucks. It basically hard bolts to the case of the 240 and transmits so much vibration into the cabin. The 240 5 speed dont work with traditional 5 speed transmission mounts because it doesnt have the ear to take a E21 rubber mount. So yesterday i worked on designing a new tranny mount, cantilever syle that uses a E21 rubber mount. Test drove it today and its 100x better than before. Pretty happy.

are you sure it's not touching the top of the transmission tunnel too? I had to mount my (e21) 240 lower and then shim the centre support bearing down to line up accurately, otherwise it was pressed against the tunnel and my teeth were falling out.

Good question, but the new mount removed all the vibration and i didn't change the transmission height.

Rockin our S2002 swap

VERY nice work! Envious, as I spent the better part of the afternoon removing the Behr ac console and pulled the heater box due to leaking heater core. Necessary job, nothing glorious about it.

Nice work. For future reference (for others unfortunately) Blunttech also makes a mount for the e21 transmission. I have that trans for mine and got their adapter kit. We talked through what I had and Sean there mentioned they have a different mount for that trans but it’s not on their website.

The WUR is the subject of much lore and numerous posts on the FAQ.  There should be air escaping during warmup, before the cone rises to its full extension, and my experience tells me there’ll always be a little air escaping, as the seal they create as the cone rises is simply metal on metal, but sometimes these things have been so crudded up that the seal is permanently compromised. Before worrying about that, though, I’d worry about whether the WUR is rising at all, and if so whether it’s properly adjusted so that the cone can rise to the extent required for it to seal.  Again, lots of posts; you should read as many as you can. Until you’re fluent in “WURese” you may find yourself chasing your tail.  If your cone’s not rising the full extent, you will want to look into buying the brilliant rebuild kit offered on the FAQ by our very knowledgeable colleague DLacey:

Well, the car was cold and not running when I ran the smoke test. Was the test supposed to be run while engine is running? That’s not what I had read on how to do it. If that’s normal when cold/off then there weren’t any other air leaks.

Of course, you may just have a leak in the air hose that goes to the intake manifold. Check that before you pull everything apart!

that hose is new. I replaced the dry rotted one months ago. I can check to make sure it’s on snug though.

thank you both.

On a tii, the WUR allows air into the intake manifold (through a hose) while the car is warming up. It’s a choke function.   As the motor warms, a wax piston under the cone of the WUR pushes the cone upwards, which in turn activates the fuel enrichment lever  on the back fo the KF pump to its positive stop, at about the same time as the car hits operating temp, the WUR should be at its positive stop and (almost) fully sealed.  It’s an intentional air leak on a cold motor. Run the smoke test with a fully warm motor and see what happens.

Received my coilover setup from GC!

Started the process of getting them on the car.  First off was my IE swaybar, which after removing, looks...not great.

I reached out to IE to see if they sell just the hardware for their swaybar kit, or at a minimum, the bushings.  Honestly I'd rather piece it together myself.

Anyone happen to know a source for bushings?

I'm using this thread for a major shout-out-props to Ian at Polish Powertrain for his awesome water divider.

I've been nursing my stock one along living in fear about it blowing up from corrosion, shopped them for ages they are grossly overpriced and hard to find.  Ian has them made and cast overseas and hand-finishes them in his shop, it's burly, well-made and affordable.   I love his part number too. 00!!

If you need one, he has!

Aloha, Bob
