What did you do to your 2002 today !

Over the past few days I finished up welding in the floor pan, installing the rebuilt pedal box, and installing  a shiny new IE billet gas pedal. But not before going on a side quest that involved installing the pedal too far left and also somehow managing to strip out the arm that attaches to the pedal shaft. Fixed that and reinstalled the gas pedal as far right as I could but now I have 3 holes in my new floorpan that I need to fix at some point. Ah well, should be able to get it back on the road tomorrow after it being off the road for a few months for all this work.

I ended up being 2 days too late to bring it to the Seattle meetup. Simultaneously bummed I couldn’t get the car there but also thankful for the motivation that drove me to the finish line even if it was a little late.

Stripped and repainted my steering knuckle arm and brake backing plates, and got it mounted to the new coil overs.  New ball joint and safety wire bolts as well.  Also cleaned my hubs and bearings.

Looks great! What paint did you use?

Nice, that beats the hell out of a file in a vise and holding onto the ring for dear life worried that you might crack it         Nice tool

Thanks, Rick

I worked alongside a former builder of Indy Cosworth engines (call it training), he had one of the ring end gap tools…. decided to get to one for myself. Bring on the M10 engine builds. (And, there’s a request for a Formula Ford engine I need to address…) -KB

Thanks!  I use a couple coats of rustoleum automotive primer, then their semi gloss enamel:

You have to give it a day or two before the enamel cures completely, but the finish has held up well on other parts I've painted.

Thanks for the info! I’ve been using their primer and “high performance enamel” stuff and once I stopped being a dummy and started following their instructions I’ve been pretty happy with it, especially since it’s available everywhere and a great price.

I love how you casually mention pulling the heater box.

I have been avoiding that job for over 4 years!☺️

I finally finished my custom carpet install!  I’ve been working on this for almost 2 months now. It’s been a lot of effort and a lot of learning, but I’m super happy with how it came out. It all fits and lays well and feels really custom tailored, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Initially I wasn’t sure I was up to the task and I almost went with an Esty kit, but I’m really glad I took on the project. I learned a ton about sewing and even tried my luck with some minor embroidery. 😬  The German square weave is beautiful, I love the charcoal and brown combo, and the floor mats make me happy.

Progress!

I started cleaning the transmission and drained the oil when I found this. It’s a roll pin 😳

WTF could that be doing in there?

That's a bad sign! It could be from one of the selector rods that hold the shift fork on the shaft. Or it could be a roller from a roller bearing that is coming apart.
