Owned virtually the same car 44 years ago:  Sahara 1967 with "UPS Brown" interior.  Loved that car!

Does anyone know all the years/models that the smooth valve covers were used?

There are a couple threads on precisely this topic.  It does appear that 1967 was the last year generally using the smooth-top valve covers.  But a few ribbed 1967 covers have been documented.  Making the determination of this cut-off from smooth to ribbed a bit more difficult is that the smooth covers tend to NOT have casting dates on their undersides while ribbed covers appear to almost-always have casting dates on their undersides.

If you doubt the originality of a ribbed valve cover on your engine, pull off the valve cover and look at the casting date (month and year).  It should be no later than your car's manufacturing month and certainly within the year preceding the car's manufacturing date.

More details are in these threads on dating valve covers...

Below: April (4 nubs) 1976 cover from my April 1976 '02.

Steve

I just looked at the stamp date on my 1600's head. 1966 so unless someone swapped valve covers, which sounds unlikely maybe the ribbed one is accurate for this car.

A ribbed cover generally has a casting date on the underside.  Though, yes, I believe dated ribbed covers as early as April 1967 have already been noted -- even though they may not have been the general rule at that time.  Earlier is possible.
