SS bumpers after 5 years or more

A friend of mine visited the vietnam manufacturing site...it's skilled metalwork...they are beating these bumpers out of flat sheet by hand. No presses, no tooling. They have an original bumper as a pattern and they are simply copying it. The noise in this factory is incredible.

The early S/S bumpers I have on the 69 came from Ben at LaJolla Independent. Box certainly came from the Far East.

Front bumper fits perfect.

Rear bumper needed lots of work (filing, grinding, notching, etc) plus buying those (2) expensive mounting blocks.  The RR corner needs more work but taking this on and off the car is a real hassle.  Before fitting the rear, use painter's masking tape on the body to help prevent scratches.

Is that to be expected for something like this?

Yes.

Before fitting the rear, use painter's masking tape with at least 3 layers of duct tape over it on the body to help prevent gouges.  Especially the edges of things.

My version of same...

And - perhaps - new OE / OEM parts for a car that's been alive for 45 years may also have fitment issues...

And may not work out of the package:

new BMW steering lock with ignition switch (defective switch)

new BMW 3 position wiper switch (contacts don't work).
