Tire Pressure Decal Location

Greetings All, I am looking to find the proper location for the tire pressure decal on my '74 tii.  My recollection is that it went on the driver side door jam under the latch.  Any pictures or comments would me most helpful.  Thanks, Jeffrey

The only factory stickers I've ever seen on the trailing edge of the driver's door, or anywhere on the door jambs for that matter, are:

1.) the factory (paper) VIN and date sticker, that was applied to all U.S.-spec '02's beginning ca. 1969.

2.) the EPA "Non-Catalyst" sticker, that was applied to all 1976 U.S.-spec '02's, but which may have appeared before the 1976 model year -- looking for other experience here.

Both are shown in the 1st and 2nd photos below (1976 2002)

Tire pressure stickers tended to be on the right inner fender, but there appear to have been multiple locations, probably beyond the right inner fender.  Right inner fender locations included, at least, a.) in the right side of the plenum (3rd photo: 1972 tii), b.) just fore of the firewall, as on my '76 (4th photo: 1976 2002 having no factory metal VIN tag), and c.) the front of the inner fender, where the inner fender meets the nosepiece/radiator support (5th photo: 1976 2002 having factory metal VIN tag).

I'm confident others will jump in, and more locations will be identified...  Sticker placement varied from year to year.

Regards,

Steve

The pic below shows the most popular location for the Fuse & Tyre stickers on '74tiis (& others) that appear not to have been messed with.

My findings, having scoured my picture files:

The US only(?) "Capacity/Tyre" sticker, that appears to have made the larger, more usual, Tyre sticker obsolete on '75 & '76 cars, was placed in the pass side plenum above the Emissions sticker on 74tiis & (I think) on base '02s. On '75 & some '76 cars it moved to the front of the pass side inner fender. On '76s with no VIN plate, it was located above the colour sticker (the colour sticker took the place of the VIN plate).

apologies to the original author of this photo, not mine, I don't take the credit ,,, and this is (I believe) a 1974 version of the stickers placement.

This photo is of a 1976 2002.  The evidence is the 1976-only style of black-on-orange Genuine BMW Parts sticker.  The first photo below is of my '76, in a photo taken August '83, with the original sticker.  The second photo shows the quatro-lingual 1974-75 version: Original BMW Teile!

Again, thank you so much but now that I see the pictures of the front inner fenders I notice that some cars have metal rings around the shock mount and some don't.  I have always wondered what they were and why some cars have them and some cars don't.

The rings you see around the shock mount were originally on top of the struts.  In 1974 the US mandated a bumper height rule.  To meet it BMW added the spacers to the top of the struts.  Some people, like me removed them from the top of the struts to drop down the front end about 1/2".  Because of the long bolts protruding through the fender we put the rings/spacers over the shock mount to keep from having to put shorter bolts.

Best

they are spacers found under the shock mounts to raise the bumper on 74-76 models.  many owners, like me, moved them from under to on top to lower the vehicles back to normal

Those are front suspension spacers, originally hidden under the front inner fenders.  They are often flipped to the top of the fender to lower the front end -- a bit.

Those rings are the strut spacers, moved from under the strut to above the fender, it lowers the car 5/8".  It's  cleaner to remove the studs and use shorter bolts but that's too much effort for some I guess.  :D

Wow!  Guess we all jumped on this one.
